Mar-03-02, 09:11 PM (EST) "Waypoint to Markers" Hi all. I've run into a couple of problems. First when in Microdem, I can't seem to call up any ddf's. I've viewed the archives and everything's in there yet, when I overlay the drawing and get the look in window there,s nothing there. All of the folders appear to be empty (yes, even after uncompressig the file. What have I done Wrong? Or not at all? Second problem is where has tha Waypoint to Marker file gone? sd40.topcities.com has vanished and I searched the file library to no avail. Thanks in advance Jeff.

Mar-03-02, 10:28 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Waypoint to Markers" Could be several issues to consider.I presume you are wanting to create a track marker file, is that right? The archives must contain <tr01le01.ddf> or you will not get tracklines on your open DEM. These are found in the DLG - 24K Transportation files at Map mart or Gis datadepot.look for mwp2mkr.exe in the file library. It's a DOS Executible. The file library also contains a tutorial named wpt2mkr.doc
that describes and illustrates all the steps if you're not already using it.Hope this helps.pennsyfan2

Mar-03-02, 11:10 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Waypoint to Markers" Yes I am after a rtack marker file. I've checked the zipped archive for the Tr01le01.ddf and it's there, although i have to open the archive with winzip, get prompted (extract to temp folder) answer no and all I see is file in the archive. Next I highlight that, hit the view button, and there they are, correct header and all. Next, it's off to Microdem where I uncompress the zip-file, open the DEM, hit overlay, vector outlines, and get the look in.. window where I see nothing! this seems to be my main hang-up for now (yes, I am using your tutorial). As for the Waypoint to Marker converter, I did a search of the file library to no avail. It seems to have vanished along with the recently departed Lawrence Kellie's web-site so, that too is a dead end. I guess i shoulda' finished DEM'ing my route a day sooner. Oh well I appreciate any insight you may have to offer. Jeff. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-04-02, 02:32 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Waypoint to Markers" Thanks for the reply. After a lengthy search I did find the conversion utility,(thanks for the offer though). I will check my win-zip settings and if that doesn't do it, I'll look in the MicroDem help. The problem may be there instead. I must compliment you on your concise and attractive tutorial, I don't think the problem is in that. Thanks you've been most helpful. Jeff. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-04-02, 02:07 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Waypoint to Markers" LAST EDITED ON Mar-04-02 AT 02:09 PM (EST)Jeff just happened to be checking the board and reread your post.If you got things working, just disregard this, but here is a suggestion.I do extract those(with Winzip configured per previous thread) SDTS(RROS) files into a temp folder named for the quad they represent. Then I go back to that folder to select the TR01le01.ddf for overlay as a vector line on the open DEM. That has always given me the track lines in the DEM. Just uncompressing them with Microdem didn't seem to work.Pennsyfan2

Mar-04-02, 11:52 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Waypoint to Markers" Pennsyfan2, I'll give it a go! I never would have come up with that on my own as I have read MicroDem Help. They warn very strongly against anything like you've just described,(something about meat-cleavers and 1s and 0s vanishing into the ether). Thanks again for all your help. Jeff.
