Mar-03-02, 12:51 PM (EST) "Water, water. Where's the water?" Alright, I give up.
On my prime route (Alpha) I have a long trench that just begs to be a river. I got out my copy of the FAQ and fallowed the instructions step by step. In wire frame I could see the square of water under the trench, but I could not get it to move up into the trench. I could move the water up and down, but that's all.
That was yesterday. Today I went to my test route (Bravo) so I wouldn't have to clean up my mistakes in Alpha. I couldn't even get the water to show up. Nada, nothing!
Wha5t am I doing wrong, other than stressing out?The Fangman Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-03-02, 03:05 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Water, water. Where's the water?" LAST EDITED ON Mar-03-02 AT 03:07 PM (EST)HiJust started back with MSTS route making as gave up on it previously.I think you need to set the tile water height as well as toggle water, in the box below. Put it in 4 times as it brings the box up 4 times when you click. N.S.E.W I think. Perhaps it is another problem with your route. Can't dig a trench myself so used a piece of track in wire frame view and used the Y key to make a port and rivers. I tried keying in a minus figure for the terrain height in the tera forming box -6.00 etc, but wouldn't go below 0.I can find water but can't dig a trench and you have a trench and no water.Barry

Mar-03-02, 07:52 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Water, water. Where's the water?" Try going into terrain editing mode. Right click at the bottom of your trench and click on the Set Height option. Note the elevation of the bottom of your trench.Next go to tile editing mode and select a tile. Right click and choose Set Tile Water Height. In EACH of the next four text entry dialog boxes set the water height to 1-2 meters higher than the terrain height you got in step one above. Finally, if you don't see the water in wireframe, right click in the tile and select Topggle Water. The four entries when setting the water height are to allow you to create "sloping" water, in the sense that you can create a river that runs downhill from one edge of yout tile to another edge. If the tile's flat just set them all the same. Otherwise, adjust each as necessary.Nick Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Worked as advertised! My Alpha route is now wet, thanks to you. The different FAQ's available in this forom are (for the most part) pretty good, but some times leave a lot unsaid. Thanks again for filling in the holes.
