Feb-27-02, 07:54 PM (EST) "replacing a switch with a manual one" I am in the process of replacing switches on Maris Pass with manual ones.
Can anyone tell me which files are affected so that I can back them up.
I replaced some switches before and then had another unrelated problem
and had to reinstall Train Simulator and needless to say all my changes were gone
I was looking for a way to somehow save these switch changes so that if I have
to do another reinstall I could just update the files related to the switch changes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. There are Marias Pass hacked versions in the file library already, so you're re-inventing the wheel.
2. If you're determined to do it yourself and have a good mental health insurance plan, and you don't have 261 megabytes to spare to just copy the entire USA2 folder to a backup directory, you need:
All the files in the root of USA2
All the following folders:
\Activities
\Lo_tiles
\Paths
\Services
\TD
\Tiles
\Traffic
\WorldThat may seem excessive, but merely deleting an automatic switch and replacing with a manual one screws up the signals and breaks all the activity paths, so it's best to just backup the entire route. Or download Marias2 or Marias3 from the file library routes section.
You're looking for a small switching route with steep grades, the Port Ogden & Northern was born when I gave up trying to convert Marias, so you might give that a try too. Po&Nver5.zip. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

sorry for I will not answer your question directly.
There is a mass of information on signals, switches, ... It is wonderful you are sharing it with us less enlightened here. In order to be able to understand it, I just miss one piece:
can the AI dispatcher throw the manual switches, or not?
I remember there was some discussion on this, somebody said they cannot but somebody else said explicitly that the other one is wrong. Please, as of today, which is correct?
Thank you!
