Feb-26-02, 10:56 AM (EST) "The X-tracks Tsection.dat file put a "wrinkle" in my East Metro route!!!" Was driving my new activity on the E. metro route when the cabview skewed wildly out of control then a derailment (with derailments switched off!).So I went into the Activity editor and opened up the E. metro and discovered this just north of Oil city. Replaced the original Tsection file and it fixed it right up.

Run Horace and then rebuild the track database using the advanced option in the route editor or this is exactly what will happen. What you see is a piece of dynamic track that is conflicting with one of the new track sections you get in XTracks. Horace followed by a rebuild solves it.

Unfortuanately the route editor is "latin" to me so far, as I havent really dabbled with it to much. My interests for running X-tracks was merely to get the latest version of the HBS route up and running & I havent been unable to do so and I'm unsure what will happen to the other routes If I should run Horace. As an active activitye writer I have alot at stake if I should do so and run into problems that can't be easily reversed or fixed.LHW Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Hi!I have this problem as well. My status is following:
I am modifying St. Anton route.
I have Xtracks 1 installed (with the patch) with no problem.
Installing Xtracks 2, and decompressing the world files, since it is an original route.
(In this state, checking in activity editor, view as above is showing)
Running Horace on the route.
Running rebuild on the database crashes the system. Tryed to start all over again, to check if I missed some detail, but no.. Same result every time, he would not be able to do a rebuild.Any idea what I am doing wrong?Regards,Mats Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-26-02, 10:21 PM (EST) 4. "RE: The X-tracks Tsection.dat file put a "wrinkle" in my East Metro route!!!" I had the exact same thing happen. Ran Horace, rebuilt TDB, then everything was fine. If you don't do exactly that, then you will have problems. Why would I need to even use Xtracks on default routes unless I was planning on modifying them?Jeff Leslie

Feb-27-02, 08:42 PM (EST) 5. "RE: The X-tracks Tsection.dat file put a "wrinkle" in my East Metro route!!!" I ran HORACE and he moved all of my Mileposts - had to back out Xtracks. Is there anyway around this or am I missing something.
Otherwise Xtracks is great. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-28-02, 07:13 AM (EST) 6. "RE: The X-tracks Tsection.dat file put a "wrinkle" in my East Metro route!!!" Jeff; the reason is the way dynamic track sections is handled by MSTS. If a route includes dynamic track (and pretty much every route does) there will sooner or later be a problem like the one in the original post. This problem occurs regardless if you do anything to the route, it is the change of the tsection.dat file in the global folder that is the critical event.Mats; answer is I don't know. I have to try this myself. Currently I have not updated my own default routes and have to confess I do not know every implication of doing it. I'm thinking of having an update for the default routes with all the changed files to make them work with XTracks but have not gotten that far yet.ATSF (strange name, reminds me of a RR); never heard of the problem though I know some route builders consider signals and mileposts to be among the last things to add to a route after all track laying is done.

Feb-28-02, 10:54 AM (EST) 7. "RE: The X-tracks Tsection.dat file put a "wrinkle" in my East Metro route!!!" I put in MPs and temporary signals by each MP to verify distance and to ensure I am in the right place in relationship with the track chart I am building from.
I plan on putting X tracks in last after all the track has been laid. The MP sign stays in the ground at the right place, its the attachmet to the track that moves. As a last step, I will remove the temporary signals, remove and replace the MPs after I have made Xtrack changes to my existing route. Thanks for a great add on. What's the point with adding XTracks then? XTracks is all about track sections. Well, you do it anyway you want as long as you enjoy it!

Mar-04-02, 03:05 PM (EST) 9. "RE: The X-tracks Tsection.dat file put a "wrinkle" in my East Metro route!!!" I have some sidings requiring manual switches so I had to use the 10 degree turnouts. I will replace these with your 5 degree turnouts. Also, there are some crossovers that I plan to replace using your more elegant ones. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-05-02, 06:37 AM (EST) 10. "RE: The X-tracks Tsection.dat file put a "wrinkle" in my East Metro route!!!" I think it will save you some problems if you add XTracks first. Then you know if you have problems with XTracks that needs to be worked out and you can use the pieces you want directly.
My crossovers and switches are not a direct replacement to the standard tracks but may need some changes in the layout if put in afterwards.
By the way, have not done any 5 degree switches thus I don't know which pieces you're thinking of.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-05-02 AT 10:43 AM (EST)Agree - I already had 150 miles of track layed before Xtracks came out. Didnt want to throw all that work away and start over.I was thinking of using your #220 a1tpnt5drgtmnl - point 5 degree right manual switch. The game only includes the left 5 degree manual switch. Mar-05-02, 11:04 AM (EST) 12. "RE: The X-tracks Tsection.dat file put a "wrinkle" in my East Metro route!!!" Ahh, okay! That's just a copy of the usual 5 degree switch as a make do for the corrupted manual shape. It works as expected for a manual switch but you don't get the lever.
