Feb-11-02, 09:40 PM (EST) "Can't throw switch at end of passing siding." I'm using all manual switches. The AI train has just entered the straight section of a passing siding and I have just entered the divirging section. It won't let me throw the switch to the divirging section so I can move onto the main line. I need to throw this switch because the signal is red and won't go green until the switch is thrown in the right (my) direction. The AI train's path has been check marked to make it a player drivable path. My path runs through the switch onto the single track main line.I know I can fix this with permissive signals, but I thought I was supposed to use absolute signals guarding the exits of passing sidings. You have to use permissive signals guarding the ends of the passing sidings and have to wait for the AI train to leave that block before the switch will change. Hmmm. No and maybe. You definately want to use absolute signals to protect the siding exits as AI trains will over-run permissives. As for when the signal will clear after the passing of the train, I just found a new issue related to this problem as well that I just posted elsewhere in this section. I found I needed to be pretty close to the exit signal, in at least one case, before the signal would clear. You might try creeping up to your exit signal and see what happens. I would be curious to know if we are both seeing the same phonomenon.I'm using auto switches however. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-12-02, 04:54 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Can't throw switch at end of passing siding." There is a bug - in some cases when the signal stays red after an AI train passes you can clear it by backing your player train up for a few feet. The signal will then change to green and you can proceed.
Dont know if this applies to your situation but it has worked for me. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
