Feb-08-02, 11:41 PM (EST) "We NEED This!!!!!!" When I saw Fozzy's K-36 after getting back from a funeral in Pueblo Colorado. I realized that we need a sutibile place to run them. Now I know that there was the C&TSVRR, but it seems that that has dropped of the face of the earth. But we still need a realistic setting for the majestic locomotives. Anyone else want this??
It's less than one month till spring training begins for the world's greatest Baseball team.......

Feb-15-02, 07:52 AM (EST) 1. "RE: We NEED This!!!!!!" I haven't seen the K-36. Is it in the files section? I've searched for it to no avail.I have been doing a bit of work on a C&TSRR version. Standard gauge (apologies to purists), since I haven't been able to get the xtrack narrow gauge sections to work. So far I've built the terrain via DEM (quite a learning experience in itself), and have laid track from the Antonito turnoff to the Big Horn siding. It's not exact - I don't have actual grade and track radius data - but I've been taking track locations from MS Streets, so it's close. No objects yet other than one short stretch of dirt road. Not perfect by any stretch, but it's been pretty cool so far. Test runs (Explore Route) conducted every so often have been loads of fun, even without scenery details. I'm plodding ahead and will post the track when I get to Chama, if there's interest in a naked route.Andy Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-15-02, 08:46 AM (EST) 2. "RE: We NEED This!!!!!!" Since I ride that train about once a year I'd be interested. Fozzy's K-36 is in early beta (he posted anew screenshot today) and I just sent him a whole bunch of photos of K-37 #491, so that may be his next project.Nick Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-15-02, 05:19 PM (EST) 3. "RE: We NEED This!!!!!!" Hi:It is still very much a work-in-progress, but I began working on the Colorado Joint Line last summer -- just for fun. I currently have the DEM terrain generated for the whole line (thanks to JohnCS's tool and this forum) and have laid tracks and have placed scenery from just south of Puebo, though the city itself, and am currently pushing north to Colorado Springs. I've had to simplify the trackage a bit (in particular the loop running from the Pb yard to points East -- mainly because of the lack of suitable crossover tracks) but so far I have something pretty close to what the digitized maps say that trackage looks like in Pueblo. There's a big industrial complex just South of Pueblo (at least the maps say so -- I've never been there) that is also complete. Lots of switching possibilities here. I have had many ups and downs during this process, but so far (again, with the help of this forum) have had no show-stoppers.
DRGW rules ( and so does ATSF and BN !! Okay, BNSF if you force me to admit Santa Fe is no more.) Fun.

Feb-15-02, 09:15 PM (EST) 4. "RE: We NEED This!!!!!!" I'd be interested in seeing what you've done with Pueblo. I've created a number of custom objects with TSM, including the D&RGW freight station, the block of buildings around the DR&GW/ATSF passenger station, and the station itself is in the process of being skinned. I suspect that the big insustrial complex you mentioned south of town is the former CF&I (now Rocky Mountain Steel) steel mill complex. I started out doing the Rio Grande from Pueblo through the Royal Goege and across Tennessee Pass,, but for the past 6 weeks I've been working strictly in Pueblo, even I have track and scenery almost complete from Pueblo through the Gorge itself.I live in Denver, and take the occasional field trip down to Pueblo for additional research. I have photos if you would like them. And let me know if you'd be interested in the buildings as well.NickF Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
