Feb-08-02, 10:43 AM (EST) "Win98/ME & more memory" The "This just in" post about crashing and ram memory made me go look on the net for some items that can affect Win98/ME users who want to take their ram above 512MB.If you fit in this category, you should go to this site & read this completely BEFORE installing memory amounts above 512 MBhttp://www.aumha.org/a/memmgmtz.htmALSO: As pointed out by one of the other forum members, read your motherboard documentation FIRST. You could be very disappointed if you go out and buy four 1 gig sticks, only to find out you only have three slots that can handle 128 megs per slot. It's time for me to upgrade ( As many of you have pointed out ) and I'm going to shell out for win 2000 to get around the win98 memory problems. I won't purcase XP because I'm protesting Microsofts invasive installation policy. ( A lot of good that will do. ).Anyway .... Several of you answered "Memory - Memory - Memory" to the post, and I couldn't agree more .... Just be careful about making sure that your system can use it before you buy it. "RE: Win98/ME & more memory" To add to that, the System Board (Motherboard) most if not all Computer makers have Tech Support lines, sites if your still unsure on the Correct Amount of ram you can go up to Contact the Company that you Purchased your Computer from, i.e., Gateway... Dell ... and so onBob... Philly, Pa Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Fewer system crashes, better frame rates and better all around directx support really make this the best operating system around. Just make sure you get the directx files for win2000 when you upgrade.Upgrade is a snap. Put the CD in the drive and click on upgrade, sit back and watch.Art Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I had been experiencing all sorts of trouble and am looking forward to getting things cleared up. Thanks again. Ginger Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
