Feb-05-02, 03:44 PM (EST) "Failed to load SMS. Only happens when...." I posted a topic on this in the past. Now I have figured out what causes it but why???
I wanted to add a big modern coal mine area to the marias pass route. I have downloaded the NF bridge that is awesome plus a coal mine and loader and was going to put a branch off the main line and cross over the river and using the awesome bridge then back into the mountain to have the coal mine. So I wanted to change the place where I start at when I load up route editor. I went into geometry extracter selected the route and then loaded the quad tree. I right clicked on the square I wanted and made it the start tile. Exited and saved. Then loaded up the route and when I do this is says Failed to find SMS file. and it repeatly says this if I try to mvoe around but it loads the rout. Why is it doing that. Feb-05-02, 03:53 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Failed to load SMS. Only happens when...." On that tile that you set as your starting point is an SMS file that needs to be loaded. The SMS file is not there. Therefore, the error.Find out what SMS file it is looking for, and you will probably find the solution..

Also when the route loads once it is loaded when I move along the route when it goes to load the upcoming scenery it pops up with these messages. It doesn;t make since because it only happens when I change the start place. But if I leave the USA2 start place the default I don't get the error. Feb-06-02, 11:44 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Failed to load SMS. Only happens when...." I have had this problem. It is caused by some lines in the .trk file. Try opening your routes .trk file in wordpad and check to see if the last 3 or 4 lines say something about sms files. Delete the lines to avoid the error messages.Henrik
