Feb-05-02, 03:03 AM (EST) "A question on MicroDEM/Dem-X dimensions units" This is really for Lawrance, and just to clear something up in my mind. In the new version of MicroDEM (whick works GREAT, thank you very much!), the dimensions are set to decimeters. If, in Dem-X, I select decimeters as the unit, the resulting terrain is VERY craggy. If I select centimeters, it seems to come out more natural. For example, in the Tacoma North (in WA) quad, the decimeter setting gives me hills in the northern part of the city showing at about 1130 in the camera "z" field (which I understand to be the height in meters of the camera above sea level, or zero). This would be around 3800 feet, which is not right - Tacoma has hills reaching as high as 300 to 400 feet. Using the centimeter unit, the hills top out at z = 114 or so, which gives me 350+ feet. So, there is no question the centimeter setting is the right one. The question is, why? Since the MicroDEM data seems to work in decimeters, why the shift to centimeters in Dem-X? Thanks,Stephen Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
