Feb-04-02, 12:45 PM (EST) "Finding switch locations?" When modeling a real-world route, how does one find information on the location of switches and crossovers? If got plenty of map data for the track, but unless there is a spur coming off the line, I haven't got a clue about anything else. Thanks.

Feb-04-02, 06:08 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Finding switch locations?" There are plenty of people out there who will sell you railroad trackplans copied from railroad originals. They're pricey though. Just do a yahoo or something like that search on the web. But be sure to -model to cut down on model railroading fluff that will make you have to scroll through 4000 useless listings for model railroad trackplans over real trackplans.-Andy

Feb-05-02, 09:25 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Finding switch locations?" Ron,I do not know about your country but here in Germany any major book store has a big hobby - department. There usually you can find the railway section and have a good look at paper-ROMs about history of different railwaylines. And most of the time you have more or less actual trackplans included.Railway modeller Gazettes publish some plans too occasionally and it might be possible to surf through their archivesBut do not be to enthusiastic to be able to rebuild a tracklayout of a more than medium sized real world station due to the drawbacks of the default sets of tracks, switches and slips.I have a more or less big collection of sketches or plans of German railway stations. If this would be of interest to you just let me know.
