Feb-01-02, 02:06 AM (EST) 2. "RE: E00 to Marker conversion" I have been investigating this matter myself. So far though the only programs I found that will do the job are both expensive Arcview(@$1195.00) and Map Publisher a plugin for
Adobe Illustrator. (in the $695.00 range). You can download A demo of Map publisher but you must have either Adobe illustrator or Freehand. It is fully functional but only good for fourteen days and is not an intuitive process. Gisdatadepot lists a freebie called <arc2shp> but it is really an arcview to Cad converter.Pennsyfan2 Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-01-02, 07:54 AM (EST) 3. "RE: E00 to Marker conversion" Search for Wes Downs' article entitled
"Success! A quick and dirty E00 to Marker conversion!" I've just revisited this thread and have created a new marker file in about 10-15 minutes, including the time to take screen shots along the way.I'll prepare a tutorial for this, but Wes' instructions do work.Bear in mind e00 data can be out a bit.RegardsYuri.

Feb-01-02, 02:48 PM (EST) 4. "RE: E00 to Marker conversion" Yuri Thanks for the tip or pointer. It didn't register with me that convert3.exe might work with E00 files.Always something new to learn.

Feb-01-02, 05:37 PM (EST) 5. "RE: E00 to Marker conversion" Arrgh!.I made a wrong conclusion. It's not Convert3.exe or is it? Not really sure? perhaps a predecessor? but it's good information to work with. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-01-02, 07:39 PM (EST) 6. "RE: E00 to Marker conversion" No. No non-default Win program is needed (well, WinZip & MS Word perhaps, but it seems most people have Winzip & Word).Basically, extract the e00 file with Winzip, then use Wordpad or Word in a series of Global Find / Replace to change the lats/longs into marker files, add the unicode header and Bob's your uncle.I worked on the tute till 0100 this morning and I'll finish it tonight and pop it up on my web site. I've emailed Wes for his permission to use his message, but haven't heard back.RegardsYuri.

Feb-01-02, 11:41 PM (EST) 7. "RE: E00 to Marker conversion" I found Wes's <e00 to marker> instructions back in the archives and have been working it on some data for the PRR horseshoe curve
at Altoona, using Wordpad. Just to see how it compares with the marker file created from BTS mif files connverted with Convert3. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
