Jan-31-02, 07:49 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Sea = ships ;-) It works!" *Jumping up and down*Me Sir, Please Sir, Me too Sir, I'd like one too...............How about a similar one with a smaller diameter funnel to represent a 1930's coal fired ship. Usually ships of this period had black funnels (cos of the muck!) with a band of two or three colours to represent the shipping line, hull usually black, sometimes lower part coloured, often red lower hull.Drool.............

Feb-01-02, 03:41 AM (EST) 6. "RE: Sea = ships ;-) It works!" Hi Jin,
Ummm, the strange looking object is actually a ex NZR, four wheel, MoW motorised jigger, with a four wheel, flatbed trolley behind. Unfortunately, I've had a problem sorting out the coupling distance (bounding box) so every now and then the trolley has an overwhelming desire for intimate contact with the proceeding jigger, but this is a family forum, so 'nuff said. More ships?: Yes, there will be more of them and as I like the older ships best you will probably see some scruffy ol' coasters. It makes a nice change from loco building, etc.Don't let the computer WIN! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-01-02, 02:17 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Sea = ships ;-) It works!" That ship will look great in the harbor. And a plus of TrainSim is the fog/haze effect. Works well with seaside areas! You say you are having issues with bounding boxes. I find it hard to believe, as I've seen so much great stuff from you, but I thought I'd mention you can see bounding boxes in the sim by pressing the "Ctrl" key and the "plus" key on the numeric keyboard. Just in case you never came across this. Hope it helps.Mike

Feb-01-02, 03:01 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Sea = ships ;-) It works!" Awww...hey, I'm all for nostalgia, but I like the modern stuff. WE could really use a few more container ships...that one model from that German site is going to be popping up a lot, I think...it's the only one I've seen. But I'm NOT complaining....I'll be one of the first to download that ship, it looks great! I've finished the model and it works in the sim, now it's only a matter of packaging it, then uploading to train-sim (or should that be renamed ship-sim .Mike, thanks for the tip, which I only found out about 24 hours ago.Containship? Yes, but haven't made up my mind which one I rather like the early generation types, based on converted freighters, which I believe have much more personality.

Feb-02-02, 06:12 AM (EST) 13. "RE: MV Poolta uploaded to train-sim" How big? Well, it's as long as the distance from bow to the stern, as wide as takes from port to the starboard and as high as it is from the keel to top of the tallest mast. The reference I used didn't state the ship's dimensions, but the model is approx 100 meters long. The model has been uploaded here and should be available for download soon. I didn't include a .bmp for you to change the colour scheme, or name, but I'm going to release its identical sister-ship, MV Pateena. (Soon.)Don't let the computer WIN! Feb-02-02, 09:42 AM (EST) 14. "RE: Sea = ships ;-)" Can you make a more modern one? Ones like that now reside in the Miami River as, well basicly "Smuggling Boats" to Haiti and South America....Kurt Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
