Jan-25-02, 10:12 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Can I make a waterfall in the route ?" I'll take a stab at this, and then let the more experienced folks here correct me....I'm thinking NO. At least, not with a water tile. They're meant to be flat, not vertical. The only way I can think of that you can produce a convincing water fall is through a good use of texturing. Find a texture that looks like a waterfal and map it onto an appropriately contured land...and that might do the trick. I've seem some beautful things done with texturing....but not by me! not there yet...oh, it scares me.good luck

Jan-25-02, 11:08 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Can I make a waterfall in the route ?" I doubt if you could make it actually vertical, but when you set the tile water height they give you the four corners of the quad tile (blue line border). I don't know what the actual limits are, but if you enter +200 for the NE and SE corners, and -100 for the NW and SW corners, it's possible to tilt the water quite a bit.
By entering two different values on two different quad tiles, you get a water height difference at the tile edge. Some people have used assorted objects to build dams at the edge, (David Klemm's IC route for example) others like myself have used a "wier" to fake a small waterfall (Port Ogden & Northern version 4). Note that I used the watertop, watermid, and waterbot ace files from the \template\envfiles\textures, there are a few different water colors, depending on which route you take the envfiles from. NEC is a darker blue than Marias, Innsbruck-St. Anton is more greenish, and since I use the textures from \template, the water top is green enough to match the wier object texture. Here's the original thread;http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=2074&forum=DCForumID6&archive=yesAnd here's a guy who hacked the texture to make it look more realistic;http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/2381.htmlAlways bear in mind that an active imagination refuses to accept limitations.
