I took a look in the route editor and the tracks were having
1.500 grade. I believe that marias does not exceed 2.2 % or in MSTS 1.260 Roman Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I usually, depending on what route I will be running on, have no more than 6 locomotives. With Marias Pass, Mountain grades tend to knock a train down very easily. Do this, if your computer can handle the extra cars.3 Dash 9s,
US2Graincar (i believe that is the name) 102 cars.
2 Dash 9s for DPU.You should be able to make the grade if you are using the Loco Phsyics V3. I got down to 20mph, but since I follow the BNSF book (hehe, I take this a tad to serious don't I??) I drop down to 13mph so I won't string-line the train or cause "Hamonic Rocking" keep it on the rails Brian E. Bundridge

I edit the weight ( mass ) of the cars to match the data I found in literature. For example 3000 tons on flat terrain with 40mph
or 1500 tons 2% grade for a given prototype.
My loco in that case was a german steam loco wich is usually able to pull 500 tons on a 2.5 % grade and it fails on the route between essex and java. Roman Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-24-02, 04:51 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Marias Pass V3 still too deep grades?" There is a short (.15 mile) stretch of 2.2 grade east of Java East, at 1165.4 on the BNSF track charts. I don't think we were able to follow this exactly on MP 3 and we stated that some grades are still too steep, but are much better than they used to be. Without rebuilding everything from scratch, that's the best that could be done. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
