Jan-23-02, 11:58 PM (EST) "Errors Again" I started to build my first route ever. Very exited about it, but then after a lot of time and effort it crashed.
Track Data base errors. The RE can't rebuild it, it comes up with a warning "...end to end.....". When I go to the offending tile I notice two things.
1. There is a blue pole on its own in the middle of the tile. Nothing connected to it - No track no nothing.
2. Some track I can't delete and when I delete the track round it, the track - that I can't delete - will stiil show the white lines going over the tile to a remote other piece of track. After a while I gave up and quite upset abandoned this route untill better times (ea better mood). However I started a second route.
This time making backups all the time, I am now on backup 68. The route seems to be fine testing it stage by stage running on it to find any problems. But gess what. Last night a started to look back at the first route, whithout any success, and by accident I invoked the database rebuilder on my new route and it is comming up with the same error!!!I have not located the offending?? tile yet. Who can HELP.
I am not faint harted with PC's and file editing. I know some topics on this have been published before. How can I read the files and manually edit them?
What is causing this to happen?
How to edit the tile files and the tsection?I will be very happy when I can resolve this and will put together a guide for future devellopers and if possible write a recovery program that I will upload.PS I do write software (one of my other hobbies).Pease help.

Jan-24-02, 01:17 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Errors Again" end to end...From my understanding you cannot place Switches end to end, i have had that Error in the past and im almost Positive it is Related to Switches, and as for the track not Showing... is it under ground or just not there at all, try the W key to see if it is under the Terrain
lol Programer huh?? make us a new MSTS without all those Pesky bugs "Make this world a better place" lolBob... Philly, Pa Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-24-02, 05:59 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Errors Again" No there are no switches back to back and the pole is sitting there on its own, nothing connected to it or under the ground.

Jan-24-02, 10:38 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Errors Again" Make sure that you save and save often. I think the best way to avoid these kinds of problems is before you go into RE, shut your computer down and reboot. Take it from someone who knows. I got burnt enough times with your problem. After I rebooted, this problem disappeard.

Jan-24-02, 11:20 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Errors Again" Okay lets see, feels like I've written about this a hundred times by now.Your first route; delete the tracks next to the one you can't select, then rebuild your track database. Now you should be able to delete the failing track and start over. It has to be done in two steps.
"end to end" usually means you have a couple of switches back-to-back, the sim does not like that, but it could be a track section of zero length (i.e. your single blue pole). I described how to remove such a pole just the other day, scan the past days threads for my name.
Start with the track you can't select and maybe the single blue pole will be solved by itself.Files can be read/edited with Wordpad or anything else capable of reading/saving Unicode text. DO NOT edit tsection.dat unless you now what you're doing and/or have a backup copy. Mistakes in this file can easily dissable MSTS.

Jan-24-02, 11:58 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Errors Again" I have been able to recover my second route. A lot of time in editing, deleting and rebuilding. Nothing compared with the time spend building it sofar.
In the end I had also to delete the track data base and its BK file to get a successfull rebuild. On the first route I am still struggeling. The actual error message is from the track data base rebuilder.
it says: "Track database error: 'remove_end_end' one non_vector, non vector"I am now determent to recor the first one as well they come very close together geographicly. Is it possible to merge two routes?Jack

Jan-24-02, 03:44 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Errors Again" I have got this error after making roads, adding sidings or just laying one piece of track(this is the latest trouble). There's one tile which crashes the rebuild if I put tracks on it
In October I got this fixed by making new tile the RGE, but it didn't help this time. Usually I have deleted the route and then started with latest working backup. Sometimes these errors seem to get into the backup zips(!), backup which worked yesterday might not work today.I could use some help also...Enocell Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
