Jan-23-02, 09:33 PM (EST) "Are there any desert routes?" Hey!,
Just wondering if there are any desert routes, because when I got to trainartasian's website they have a screenshot of their F7 santafe in the desert. Are there desert routes for download? thanks. newyorkflyer Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I live in Tucson, AZ, and have toyed with the idea of doing my surrounding area...but honestly, there's not much of interest here. Speaking as a desert dweller...it's pretty flat! And they don't have a lot of track laid in the canyon, so forget that. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

LAST EDITED ON Jan-24-02 AT 09:29 AM (EST)They threw me for a loop for a couple minutes because they changed the track textures from European to Marias, but those Super Chief desert screenshots were not taken on a desert route. They were taken in the desert section of the Port Ogden and Northern, po&nver4.zip in the file library route downloads. That section is the "Rio Grande Southern" division, inspired by John Armstrong. So a starting point of "Armstrong" will take you right to it.Message Areas - "Are there any desert routes?" – image 1Message Areas - "Are there any desert routes?" – image 2There are also "burnt" shrubs available for desert plants;

BTW, air-sea rescue got a shot of an SOS from some Cheesehead Packer Backers that were snowed in;Message Areas - "Are there any desert routes?" – image 4

Seriously, somebody still has to make some cactuses (or is it cacti?) and an animated Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote to run alongside the tracks. Maybe the Tehachepi guys could release some of their plants as freeware (hint hint!). Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
