Jan-22-02, 11:24 AM (EST) "IC route update" Sorry for the tease here, but if you remember last week Trouble put up some screen shots from the southern section of the route that he had sceniced. Well I got the full update from him this morning and his screenshots don't do it justice. It is superb! I believe his plan is to get it to Nels in the next couple of days so all of you can get it.I will then take on finishing Decatur, or at least getting a whole lot closer. I'm up to 37 custom objects, many built just for Decatur from photos I took over the holidays.

Jan-22-02, 05:56 PM (EST) 4. "RE: IC route update" Hey all!I love the IC route by the way.
I've been putting in my own bits of scenery, particularly cars and people, etc. And above all, SIGNALS!Will it screw-up the route altogether when the update comes out??? (other than my .ref not matching the new .ref).Speaking of which, in your updates, do you just make a "cut and paste" .ref in an update featuring just new objects, or an entirely new .ref ??An option for either would really help those who edit route extensively, and those who don't..One other thing, What kind of signals/system do they use on the IC??
I have searchlight signals. Is that right? Thanks again,-Christian Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-22-02, 10:53 PM (EST) 7. "RE: IC route update" Christian;First, Trouble and I tag teaming the route. While he has been putting scenery in, I've been creating objects and installing new trains, but staying away from the route editor with permanent changes. If I were to make a change to a tile, like add scenery and Trouble worked in the same area and released an update, mine would be lost. Also, other files in the root are updated with certain changes that I may if I make changes in a complete other area get out of sync. So, to answer your question, if you've made changes and apply Troubles update you will lose those changes and possibly lock up the route with things being out of sync.As for the ref, new object references are pasted to the end of the list. This is done either manually or automatically with TSM

Jan-22-02, 09:16 PM (EST) 5. "RE: IC route update" David,Maybe you're having the same problem with custom objects and TSM that I am. I keep finding additional things I want to model, and can't get anything else done. I'm not quite to the point of planting every bloody tree in its correct location, but I keep finding additional items I want to add to the Pueblo terminal area, and haven't even gotten back to Rocky Mountain Steel, which I desperately need to get done. Now I need to build the ACCURATE cement plant at Portland. Oh well...Nick Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-22-02, 10:49 PM (EST) 6. "RE: IC route update" Nick;It is getting worst for me the more I learn TSM. I'm getting faster at turning at things and doing more complicated things so my list grows but my to do list never seems to shrink as I keep adding to it!What has been nice is I've done this while Trouble did scenery work. Now I will start placing objects and scenery. And Trouble will take the time to create new stuff. We plan on going back and forth this way improving the route as we go.David Klemm

Jan-23-02, 08:42 PM (EST) 10. "RE: IC route update" I'm in Ft Worth on a business trip, and when I get back I'll upload some photo's I took around Decatur that have signals in them. If memory serves they look like the BNSF ones.

Jan-25-02, 11:14 AM (EST) 11. "RE: IC route update" Yes, I believe they look like much like the default BNSF signals that come with MSTS.Also, I apologize that the update has not been uploaded yet. I sent my "release candidate" to David for testing, and it was, shall we say, seriously "freaked" up Somehow my track item and a couple of other files were somehow corrupted at some time, so although my scenery was added fine, David's scenery and track work in the northern section was popping up error messages like zits on a 13 year old's face. One after the other after the other after the other, etc.I'm working on trying to synchronize the files from backups I have, to get it all straightened out. Try as I might, I cannot figure out what happened to these files, but I shrug, and blame it on the RE troub
