Jan-21-02, 06:29 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Important Words" I look forward to your extended NEC!It sounds like a big project, so may I suggest starting small and extending gradually?>1. How do you get switches for trains to cross another Track? If you mean slips (crossings with switches), those are not available, although some seem to have been made to work in the package called Xtracks (search for it in this Forum). If you mean simple crossings without switches, those exist as A1tXOver5d.s and A1tXOver2_5d.s, for 5- and 2.5-degree crossings.
>2. How do you Get Mileposts to workOnce placed, right-click and enter the desired number.
>3. How do you change Speed limit numbers Ditto. It sounds like you may have other questions down the line: you can find almost all answers by searching this Forum, or in the Guide listed below (for $15, with Version 2 coming soon).Michael Vone

You can finish the current route that you are doing and I will finish where you left off.Because it is just boring to go from Philly to Washington and back. Jan-23-02, 11:00 AM (EST) 8. "RE: Important Words" Stmbuzz, let me know how I can contact you so we can figure out a way in which we can work together on this. So far I have all the tracks, road, station, and land features built up to the North Philadelphia station on Broad Street. This includes the 30th Street Station switching yard and the area around the Schuylkill River and the Philadelphia Zoo. What a view from the Falls Bridge, you can see quite a distance up and down the river from way up there I also have the scenery items, buildings, trees, car spawners, etc. built to within a few blocks of the North Philadelphia station. The main things I have left to do for my initial release are finish the scenery, add signals and gantries, some sound sources in Fairmount Park and add mileposts once I figure out how they are set up in the default route. I hope to have an initial release soon. I could probably release it now but I want to make sure my first release is of a high quality so I am taking a little extra time to make sure I have it right. I like the idea of my building a section and you building a section and working together on this. Or I could lay track and you do scenery or something. Let me know how we can combine efforts. Thanks for your interest. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-23-02, 11:05 AM (EST) 9. "RE: Important Words" Is it possible to combine to independently created routes like that? I hope that it is, it would be great to be able to combine an extended NEC with you MBTA once it got to that area. You've done a great job with your route. If it is possible maybe you could work towards NYC from the Boston area and we could work towards NYC from the Philadelphia area and join routes in NYC. Of course we need to find out if it is possible to even combine routes first. If it is possible then another idea might be to also incorporate the Hoboken Shore line into the project since if I remember right part of this route runs on the NEC. Just an idea anyway. Let me know what you think and if there is a way to combine to separate routes in Microsoft Train Simulator. Thanks for your interest. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-23-02, 10:26 AM (EST) 7. "RE: Important Words" This extention will be a great upgrade, but don't waste your time modelling Grand Central Station on this route. The NEC goes through Pennsylvania Station in NYC, not Grand Central. Penn Station is a through station, just like 30th Street in Philadelphia, Grand Central is a stubend terminal with a turning loops on 2 levels.

Jan-23-02, 12:00 PM (EST) 10. "RE: Important Words" I was wondering if somebody could help me and model these buildings. I am trying to avoid using too many custom buildings, but there are a couple of landmarks that really stand out from the NEC where it crosses the Schuylkill River and looking down broadstreet from the North Philadelphia Station. The Philadelphia skyline just doesn't look right without them. If somebody could model them and tell me how to add them it would really enhance my extension of the NEC so far alot. The buildings that would be useful to have modeled are. 1) The Philadelphia Museum Of Art. 2) Philadelphia City Hall. 3) The skyscraper at One Liberty Plaza. and 4) The Lighthouse at Boathouse Row. Here are some pics of these buildings I have found.1) Philadelphia Museum Of Art.
2) Philadelphia City Hall

3) One Liberty Plaza
The big skyscrapers in the background.Anyway, I have no modelling skills. If anyone could make these buildings for me it would really increase the realism of the NEC extension. If anyone is interested let me know and tell me how to use them in Train Simulator. Thank you for any help you can give.

"RE: Important Words" LAST EDITED ON Jan-23-02 AT 02:21 PM (EST)LAST EDITED ON Jan-23-02 AT 02:15 PM (EST)LAST EDITED ON Jan-23-02 AT 02:14 PM (EST)To tell you the truth I have no modeling skills either. Currently I been Looking For The best Railroad maps the shows corners,Milepost. During School I was planning on Starting the New Jersey Route all the way into Penn station not Grand Central. I also downloaded From this site the Building sets and NJ trains for custom Activties. If you no any Good railroad Maps let me know. also I been wondering since most stations are the same I been looking for new ones.
Email Me:Stmbuzz@aol.comBut I have a problem and it is I can't seem to get any custom objects into the route. I put the ace files into the tex folders and the s. and sd files into the shapes but it doesn't show in Route Editor. I also thought how about we and others who help to make the NEC Route completey from Newport News in VA all the way to Boston,Mass. Also if you are done with philly upload it so I can download it so I can start from Trenton NJ to Penn Station. I got all the Names of the Stations in NJ listed in order Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-24-02, 01:57 PM (EST) 13. "RE: Important Words" Well, I hope to have my first upload in a few days. A week at the latest. What I have done so far is Philadelphia up to the North Philadelphia station on Broad Street by Temple University. Being very urban, it is taking a little while to add all of the scenery. I am trying very hard to put every building that is along the tracks where it is in real life. And being a major city that means alot of buildings I want to do this right so it is very detailed. I am within a couple blocks of adding scenery to being done though. It should only take a few days at most now that I have gotten all the bugs worked out. What I will do when my initial release is out is do a quick second release of extending the tracks only up to the Pennsylvania border in Bucks County that way you can continue from there while I add in the scenery. My only question is can I do that, work on adding the scenery while you extend the tracks further? How can we figure out a way so we can combine our efforts to get this project done faster? Please let me know how we can do this. Thanks. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

When your finish with the tracks you doing. Upload it so I can download it and pick up where you left off. Jan-26-02, 10:54 AM (EST) 15. "RE: Important Words" You're doing the NEC from Trenton to Penn Station? That's awesome, I've been hoping someone would do that (I don't have the skills or knowledge yet to do it myself).
