Probably in the consist itself, check the \trains\trainset\whatever engine you're using folder, in the \sounds folder for that is probably the missing sms file. Sometimes new locos are uploaded with the aliasing done improperly, and the .eng file is looking for the sms in the wrong place. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-15-02, 10:03 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Failed to find SMS file???" Grr I am still having the problem I thought it was this custom consists I made had 149 cars with all custom cars new ones I downloaded hehe ran as slow as hell framerate wise but when I loaded that train in NE corridor it caused the error and I thought it was just thr route so I loaded it in marias and it worked fine then later tonight I had marias opened in the route editor and it gave me the same error. I deleted the consist. The consist only had one custom engine on it and it worked fine before no problems so is it a .sms file in the route some where this is bugging the crap out of me and I don't want tor install the game lol. What a hassle that would be with like 70+ custome cars and #####. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-15-02, 10:48 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Failed to find SMS file???" Hmmm, wel the routes also use sms files, for those little sound region things. if that's the problem in a default route you'll probably have to reinstall. What I do is copy the entire contents of the \trains folder to a backup directory. Then I reinstall MSTS, and past the \trains folder back into \train simulator, overwriting the default. This only overwrites files with the same name, so unless you edited the default trainsets or consists it won't really be overwriting anything. you could also make a backup of the default \trains folder, in case it does turn out to be a problem with one of the add-on engines you can just delete \trains and paste the default back in. Then copy and paste your add-on engeines and cars a few at a time until you find the problem child. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
