I have had the game since it about came out and I have messed around wtih the activity, geometry, route editor, but never figured out how to actually use them only a little. I really want to build a route, but have a few question. I have did some basic editing of routes where I put in that new coal tower out. But editing the track and using dynamic track made me mad so I ditched that idea LOL. My first question is after I open a new route I got from the Geometry extractor all the land is flate and the same color. I thought it was supposed to add terrain and textors to start with if you use that. Secondly after I start editing my route how should I do the terrain do it after or before track. Third how do you make track start to go up a grade?
Lastly on dynamic track how do you know when it connects from one piece of track to another piece. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Do a search for "DEM" and you'll find some links to the tools and tutorials. To make your own terrain, try this method;http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=1919&forum=DCForumID6&archive=yes
As far as before or after, dealer's choice. Laying a piece of track, connect the next piece to it, click on the rotation tool while the last section is selected, rotate it up or down. Then hit the Y key to level the terrain under the track. I usually lay track first and build mountains and hills around it, either way you have to select each section of track and hit the Y key to get rid of spillovers and undercuts.http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/1877.html
