Jan-14-02, 11:18 PM (EST) "A easy smaller wye" Message Areas - "A easy smaller wye" – image 1 Here's a pic of a wye within a wye. The wye pictured fits into the 7 left/right turnie whatever you call them things. I created this trying to do a dispatcher track for track building.Hope this is explanatory enough.Rich Garber Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

You should be able to use other curved tracks for the legs also as long as you use the same curves and they make a 40 degree bend.

Jan-28-02, 08:34 AM (EST) 10. "RE: A easy smaller wye" Over the past weekend I tried a narrow gauge wye using xtracks. No dynamic just 150M radius and it worked. Even at the end of the line. I did make one "tail" long in an attempt to fool MSTS into thinking it was a main line. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-17-02, 11:27 PM (EST) 7. "RE: A easy smaller wye" I have been building wyes that are quite similar to that, only the separate "siding" part is not there. In other words, except for a short piece of dynamic, I use all 10D left and right end points.I decided to "remodel" one of those with your version. The remodel worked out excellently! Now I have a little extra "siding" to play with.Message Areas - "A easy smaller wye" – image 3 GREAT idea! I'm glad that I have included it, as I will now be able to "remember" to use it in future situations.Lawrence Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-27-02, 05:41 PM (EST) 9. "RE: A easy smaller wye" Thank you, Rich! And thanks to Okrasa for the ideas on using three "Y" track sections. Need to play with that one, too!Since I haven't seen any operating turntables (did you ever create one, Okrasa?), this may be just what I need on my Dunnenda Valley RR. It's mountainous, curvy and has mines and lumber camps tucked in nooks and crannies evrywhere!Just what the gandy dancers needed - ideas on building small wyes!
Thanks again, folks!Lew

Thank you for the idea, Lawrence! Makes a great junction, with a runaround track, and maybe a branch line leading in. Also space for a small station in the middle!Hmmm. Now let's see.. where do I need more of those? Lew

Jan-29-02, 00:12 AM (EST) 12. "RE: A easy smaller wye" Hey all
Here's the one I'm using with more of a straight siding. Just 2 short pieces of about 8m of dynamic track.Message Areas - "A easy smaller wye" – image 4

Feb-17-02, 11:09 PM (EST) 13. "RE: A easy smaller wye" LAST EDITED ON Feb-17-02 AT 11:17 PM (EST)Well, I took a crack at building one of those "minimal" wyes as described by Rich, Okrasa and Lawrence:Message Areas - "A easy smaller wye" – image 5Of course, yer gonna have to be verrrry careful how you align that first wye section, if you want the rest of it to go where it needs to go! I also used Lawrence's idea, with the straight base section, and used the inner curved section for caboose storage. Good place to stash them little suckers! What? You don't use cabeese??? Guess I'm old fashioned! Lew
