How about a field of corn, tall as an elephants eye? Wheat field? Any takers?res07bqx@verizon.net Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-14-02, 07:23 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Yet more terrain texture help needed" It is not posible to do this. Textures are 2d. You would need to create a 3d object using TSM or 3d*. You could make a texture that would look like it from directly above but if it is viewed in any other angle it would look like doodie. Even if you did make it with TSM it would either look like a painted block (thus bad) or have 100000000000000 polygons and the sim would run at approximately 1 frame per hour. So ya better get used to mown lawns and fields. Note how even on the default routes the trees are few and far between and there is only a thin screen directly surrounding the track. Realistic woods would also kill your frame rate. A flat field made using a brown or green grass texture surrounded by fence objects should suffice for farmlands and plots without killing your computer's processor.-Andy

"RE: Yet more terrain texture help needed" If you want to do rows of corn/rows of wheat, there's no reason you couldn't make the rows parallel to the tracks and model the individual rows on one square poly/2 triangles. Then use transparencies to paint the individual cornstalks. Seems to me a large field with 150 rows of corn would be similar in polys to a well tree'd area. If you want to experiment with this feel free to contact me. (Click on the little envelope at the top of my message for my email)Mike
