Jan-14-02, 02:12 PM (EST) "Should I wait to add roads?" Hi all,
I have read many posts and other advice where people say not to add roads to your route until after you are finished laying track. I also see many routes in progress (David Klemm's IC is a good example) where roads have been added along with track.I would like to know what the concensus is about adding roads - can I take the plunge or is it really as bad as some folks say it is?I am at a point in my route now where I would like to add roads so that I can match them up with tracks, but I also don't want to ruin all the work I've done so far. My route will probably be a work in progress for a very long time and I will probably never be finished laying track, so I hate to wait much longer to add roads.Jeff "Can't get my kicks without Route 66..." Just make a backup of all of your track work that you have laid first in case something goes wrong. I am extending the NEC north of 30th Street Station in Philadelphia and have my route done up through Fairmount Park so far. I have been adding roads without any problems. Actually, the terrain along the Schuylkill River made it nescessary that I add roads to the route in this area as I go. You'll see what I mean when I get my first release uploaded if you go over the Falls Point Bridge. Anyway, I don't think you should have any problems adding roads, just back up your work before you do. This is a good idea when building your route anyway.
