Jan-13-02, 09:00 PM (EST) "Dynamic Track" Hi Everybody,I am new to route design, and was wondering what I do for switches in the Route Editor. I can only find 3 of them. I was wondering how I can use the Dynamic Track editor to create a Y type switch, and a regular switch with different radius. Thanks for the helpkwk100 Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-13-02, 09:41 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Dynamic Track" You got a long way to go. First you have to get familiar with the track section order, rather than repeating all that I'm just gonna paste the text from a previous reply here, saves wear and tear on my keyboard. "That said, once you get used to the alphanumeric order, it isn't that hard to search for the piece you need. Alphabetical order everyone is familiar with, alphanumeric adds numbers above letters. So "apple" comes before "banana", but "1banana" comes before "apple" because the number 1 comes before the letter A. To add further confusion to this, eleven comes before 2, because eleven is one-one. Therefore, 1banana, 10banana, 11banana, 12banana, on up to 19banana, then comes 2banana, and 20banana if it's in there will show up in the list before 3banana. Definitely drive ya bananas until you figure it out.
All the single track sections except dynamic start with A1t, so it's the 4th character that starts the sorting process. That's why 50 meter straights and 500 meter straights and 500 meter radius curves are together, A1t500mstrt.s, A1t500r10d.s (identical up to the 7th character, and m comes before r), A1t500r10dRndtun.s (identical up to the 10th character, blank comes before everything on the 11th), then the regular tunnel section (R comes before T) and then the next length. 10d, 20d, 5d, because the sequence is 1,2,5. After all those is the 50 meter straight, because 500 comes before 50m, zero having precedence over M in the 6th character.
So when you're looking for a track piece, thinking about the number or letter it starts with is a good way to at least find the section it's in quickly. Obviously buffer, endpnt, lftpnt and rgtpnt (switches) and usbuffer, xover, ypoint are going to come after all the numbers, but with the A1T prefix they come before the A2t double track sections.
The only thing that still screws me up is I sometimes get a A1t1500r10d.s when I wanted a A1t500r10d.s, it's easy to miss that little bitty extra number one in there."That's the explanation of the order, as far as switches go, you'll see the switches mixed in with the regular track sections in alphanumeric order according to what they start with.A1t870r4dlft.s would be an 870 meter radius 4 degree left switch, if it ends with rgt it's a right switch. Unfortunately there aren't as many manual switches as the automatic kind, but when they're available they would say A1tPnt10dRgtmnl.s instead of A1tPnt10dRgt.s. The wye switches are buried at the bottom of the single track sections, A1tYPnt10d.s and A1tYPnt10dmnl.s.
Here's a how-to on dynamic track for a wye;http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/1877.html Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
