Jan-12-02, 04:30 PM (EST) "Bell Sound on Crossing Gates" Tried installing crossing gates and lights on crossings on my route. Instead of the crisp rapid bell found on the Marias Pass Route, the bell sounds more like a gong. Is there a way to change to the Marias Pass rapid bell which is more typically North American? Can I transfer those crossing files to my route? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

With those, you get the gong. The crossings themselves don't need to be changed. Look in the SOUNDS directory for your route for a file called crossings.sms.In that file you'll find the file names specified for the sounds (.wav) files used for crossings. Here's what the one for MP looks like:
Tr_SMS (

The first .wav file is the bell. The next two are the noise made by the gate opening and closing. Unfortunately, you'll get that noise whether there is a gate on your crossing or not. Change those values from the ones in your file, making sure the associated .wav file is in the sounds directory, and you should be fine. Make sure you use Wordpad for the editing, and make a backup of the original in case you mess up. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
