I've had problems in the past (who hasn't? ) but everything seems to be going smoothly now. The route is 43 miles long from Boston's South Staion to Providence, RI along the Northeast Corridor. I've got 28 miles laid. Not much scenery yet.otta get those rails laid first before some goes wrong.
Everytime I save, I back the whole thing up.Here are a few pics.
This one is just leaving South Station.
Another one leaving Boston
Entering Backbay

Jan-10-02, 10:55 PM (EST) 1. "RE: MBTA Route" Looking good so far. As one who is intimately familiar with the scenery I can say that's about as good a proximity to life as you'll get without using TSM or 3d. One thing you will want to do when you start texturing the ground in the causeway is make it a dark brown. Even in May everything along the turnpike at least as far as Newton is brown. On the section of the track between back bay and the CSX Beacon Park Yard are all kinds of neat access towers designed to get you from street level down to the tracks... I'll look around the models and tell you if I find anything resembling them but I don't think there is. We'll have to get someone to make you some litter clutter for the causeway too since if it had any more they'd need to get one of the mountain pass snow blowers out on the tracks. -Andy

Jan-11-02, 10:08 AM (EST) 3. "RE: MBTA Route" LAST EDITED ON Jan-11-02 AT 10:14 AM (EST)That's a nice looking route. I can't wait to see what you have for the Canton Viaduct. Do you plan to build any MBTA locomotives and cars when you finish? Or even back date it a little and come up with a New Haven fleet? As a newbie, I was thinking of building something small and decided to try my hand at the Needham Heights line that would diverge with your line at Forest Hills. I'll let you know how it goes. This is great. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-13-02, 12:18 PM (EST) 7. "RE: MBTA Route" I have lots of photos, but unfortunately I am in the process of moving or I would scan them in and send them your way. Basically, it looks like the English viaducts already in Trainsim with the aera between the arches filled it so it is a solid block of cut stone. You might want to look at the Town of Canton website in Massachusetts, I think they have a picture of it there -- not entirely sure. Or check with the New Haven RR. historical society. Jan-11-02, 09:33 PM (EST) 5. "RE: MBTA Route" Excellent! Since I travel the NEC both for Business and to see my 3 Grandsons in Boston I have been wanting to see if one of you "scenery gurus" would bite the bullet here....Just one thing, When you get around to putting the Gantries in for the Catenary, use the European ones from one of the TGV routes or the Swedish ones... Just adjust them for the 7 meter US height not the 6 meter Euro height... THis is because the "wire" between New Haven and Boston is the modern "constant tension" style, ala European practice...------Chuck Schneider---------

Jan-11-02, 11:31 PM (EST) 6. "RE: MBTA Route" I think I'll do that. Thanks for the comment.
Still a lot of work to be done. I've reached Pawtucket this evening. Only about 5 miles to go. Then there's the scenery.
Still a lot a lot to do but it's fun. It's a creation of some sort. Thanks for the comments. Bring em on.

Feb-05-02, 08:54 AM (EST) 9. "RE: MBTA Route" Bad news. I recently had to reformat my hard disk but before doing that, I backed up my route to a cd. After reformatting and reinstalling Windows ME and Train simulator, I copied my route back into the routes section. For some unknown reason, when I try to rum the MBTA route, I get that stupid message to send or don't send. I am very depressed about this.
Don't know what is causing this. I feel sick to my stomach.Anyone know what might be causing this?Simerjoe
