Jan-10-02, 03:10 AM (EST) 2. "RE: tiles" hehe fair enuff man ;)im new here im aloud to ask stupid question.another quick quiz .. if the small squares represent 2 km x 2 km then how many squares away from the red lines do any of you commonly place tiles? in respect to the fact that the furthest visibility as far as i know is 2000 metres.. or does the sim make exception for distant mountains further than 2 kms from your vantage point?..thanx nathan Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-10-02, 08:13 AM (EST) 3. "RE: tiles" 1. Motley did not say it was a stupid question, he said silly question.2. I have had success with running a 3-4 tile width.3. I have two routes I am working on, one is 257 tiles and the other is over 3,200 tiles.4. I will not be distributing my 3,200-tile route. However, the 257 I will be.5. The 257 tile route will create quite a large package to distribute. So if you plan on distributing yours, it, too, will be quite large to distribute.Lawrence Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-10-02, 07:17 PM (EST) 4. "RE: tiles" really? then my 1877 tile route is too large to upload and share. ahh fooyyyy. I'll just put up a warning sign that anyone without cable modems can't get it. Luckly I'm making it cause my 56k could never get that sucker. 422 isn't that big if you upload it in 2 or 3 zips instead of one gigantic meatball of a package.lol Craig Shortino Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-11-02, 02:08 AM (EST) 7. "RE: tiles" There is a tutorial available on here, i think it's like $5 im not 100% sure though, Lawrence would be better of an Answer for that Question. i Never got the tutorial, i Learned pretty much by Trial by Error. it's not all that hard once you figure out the Different programs and the operations that go along with the programs and as for the tutorial. from what i read it's well worth the Money... Saves a lot of heartacheThere are programs Such as MicroDem, Demex
here is a link for the Different utilities you can use, and also Do a search on this Forum using the Search terms as DEM and look through the Threads you'll find useful Information that can or may help you

Jan-11-02, 06:11 PM (EST) 10. "RE: tiles" I thought that TS Terra Form wrote to the MSTS files. Doesn't it?I just checked the files area, and sure enough. It does it for you. Here is the description: "TS TerraForm Vn 3.0.2. Enables contoured maps to be traced and converted into MSTS route terrains, by directly updating the tile files. Creates labelled marker files. Allows track paths to be easily set into the landscape to speed laying of rail and road once inside Route Editor. Can import tiles directly to assist in track bed creation.
