Jan-04-02, 09:20 PM (EST) "NYCTA Subway Route" LAST EDITED ON Jan-04-02 AT 09:29 PM (EST)I spent a few days creating the NYCTA BMT 4th Avenue route from 95th Street to 59th Street. Using 3D Canvas Pro to create the subway stations took longer than creating the subway tunnels because of the pillars in the stations. Here are a few screenshots:Message Areas - "NYCTA Subway Route" – image 1Leaving 95th Street station. Finally a subway route for MSTS. Maybe there will be more now. Keep up the good work! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-05-02, 05:09 AM (EST) 4. "RE: NYCTA Subway Route" So far so good... Now if you could just make a tunnel section with an emergency exit ro maintenance tunnel off it (just modify a straight section with a "room" off one side) and you've got every tunnel section you'll probably need. If I knew anything about making engines I'd try my hand at a light rail above/below ground system like MBTA's Green Line, with those fun Japanese and Czech cars that can go around 10m 90 radius turns without derailing (although squealing something awful). -Andy

Jan-05-02, 10:39 AM (EST) 5. "RE: NYCTA Subway Route" After creating 4-track subway tunnel sections and a 4-track local subway station, I ran out of free slots in the track shapes section of the TSECTION.DAT file so I can't extend the NYCTA subway route beyond Pacific Street because I need curved track subway tunnel sections and three subway stations for Dekalb Avenue, Whitehall Street, and City Hall. I can't add any more track shapes to the TSECTION.DAT file without screwing up the other MSTS routes and the file itself. Jeffrey. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-05-02, 03:22 PM (EST) 6. "RE: NYCTA Subway Route" What kind of signals does NYCTA use? Standard subway christmas tree lights? ie, RYG ontop each other like a minature traffic lite stuck to the side of the tunnel.-Andy

Jan-05-02, 06:17 PM (EST) 7. "RE: NYCTA Subway Route" NYCTA subway system uses 3-light signals similar to traffic lights turned upside down. In some places, you may see two signal fixtures for interlocking. Staten Island Railway uses 6 or 7 lights on round back plate. Jeffrey. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-06-02, 09:51 PM (EST) 8. "RE: NYCTA Subway Route" I extended my NYCTA subway route to 34th Street by adding more subway stations and more subway tunnels to it. I had to remove some road shapes from the TSECTION.DAT file so that I can add more subway shapes to the file. I found a fix for people who use 3D Canvas Pro to create 3D objects for MSTS. Some people are complaining that 3D objects created using 3D Canvas Pro appear brighter in MSTS than 3D objects created using Train Sim Modeler. The fix is to change a line in shape files from:named_shader ( Tex )to:named_shader ( TexDiff )I wish that I could "snap" subway tunnels without tracks to subway tunnels with tracks already laid in the route.
