Jan-04-02, 05:27 PM (EST) "Opinions requested on Sea View route" After completing Michael Vone's tutorial route, for fun I started my own route "Sea View". I was building the route for the purpose of developing my skills and intended it only for my use. However, I am now wondering if some others may enjoy this route even though it is VERY much a fantasy route. I have a lot more "work" to do, but here are some screen shots:
Port Pelican (My thanks to Jason Webb for the palm trees and palmettos. I will credit many others if the route is released.)
Leaving Port Pelican climbing up to Flat Island. (Route has lots of sharp turns and steep grades.)
Leaving Flat Island
Leaving Mystery Island entering tunnel to Sunken Island
On Sunken Island
Another view of Sunken Island
Leaving Sunken Island. View from rim of Sunken Island heading for ???
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Other than that oustanding! Especially for a first try.Richard Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-04-02, 10:58 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Opinions requested on Sea View route" It's not only beautiful, and would be a lot of fun for overage MSTS kids like me, I'm thinking that with a British accent it would make an ideal template for a Thomas the Tank Engine kid's route, a lot better than anything I've been able to dream up so far. You need some help with it, delete the \enviles, \shapes, \sound, \terrtex, and \textures folders, zip up what's left and email it to me, I can take up to 10mb attachment. My youngest son is a Sodor Railways nut, and he would go crazy with Thomas & friends on a route like that. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-04-02, 11:32 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Opinions requested on Sea View route" Different and very interesting concept.
I too would love to have those palm trees for my NZ route.
I believe you should continue with this and release it.
I for one would add it to my collection

>Cheers Indeed, and I'll be waiting/looking for it as well. I don't care a fig if it's a fantasy route. I've never seen ANY of the routes which are presently in the game. Lived most all my life in the NW and there aren't any routes yet from this area. Not being a real route doesn't diminish the enjoyment one bit. res07bqx@verizon.net Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-05-02, 01:41 PM (EST) 10. "Thanks for the comments" Your various comments are appreciated and have given me encouragement. I have a lot more work yet to do on Sea View, but I guess I had better start think about how to eventually make it available for others. It is a lot of "fun" figuring out how to accomplish things with the Route Editor. By doing searches in this forum, I have learned a lot from you experts. (However, I have not yet been able to figure out how to keep my terrain transfers from shimmering and having white edges showing.)A couple of you commented on the palm trees. The palm trees and palmettos are courtesy of Jason Webb, a frequent poster here. All imported objects will be acknowledged when the route is released.Bill in Atlanta. Jan-07-02, 09:51 AM (EST) 11. "RE: Thanks for the comments" That route is so nice! Reminds me of my days in the H_Squad, that awesome set of islands they made. That ought to be released, it's that good. It doesnt matter that it's fantasy, thats the beauty of MSTS, you can have imaginary routes and still they look good! Jan-07-02, 10:21 AM (EST) 12. "RE: Thanks for the comments" Wow, that route you're doing looks awesome. I can't wait till you get that finished and upload it. It looks like alot of fun to drive on. I have two questions for you though. 1) Where did you get that ship from? I am extending the Northeast Corridor which runs along the Delaware River for a while. It would be great to add ships like that to the docks in the area when I get to them. 2) How do you create screenshots like that. I have all of the track work done for the switching yard at 30th Street Station (8 main line tracks entering the station and 11 yard tracks; total of 19 tracks to switch on) and have extended the main line to the Philadelphia Zoo so far. I would really like to post some screen shots of the 30th Street Station Yard but I don't know how to take screen shots in Train Simulator and post them on this forum. Please tell me how to take screenshots so I can show everyone the work I've done on the 30th Street Station Yard. Thanks. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-07-02, 05:26 PM (EST) 13. "RE: Thanks for the comments" The ship was done by Teemu Saukkonen. You can download it from the train-sim.com file library.I did a search in this forum and found an excellent tutorial on posting screen shots. Use the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard to capture the current image from your screen. It will be saved in the main Train Simulator folder as a *.pcx file. Convert the pcx file to a jpg file. When posting a forum message, look above where you are typing and you will see "Click here to upload your file". Clicking there will open a new window. Check JPEG picture, then browse and find your file. Click upload. Copy and paste the URL that shows up into your message and your screen shot will be in your posted message.
