Jan-03-02, 01:18 PM (EST) "Ok Sniper Here's your answers to the questions in your post. ( it got too long lol )" LAST EDITED ON Jan-03-02 AT 02:00 PM (EST)Hi all. Jim here's the answers to the questions you asked bout the new ALL_STUFF.REF. ok ready? here we go: 1) no he doesn't have any added signals, track sections etc. only the default stuff. He doesn't have Jim Steven's DAT file nor do I. By restoring a backup I meant he made a backup before he used the new ALL_STUFF.REF. He already had the whole route 75% done before adding the ALL_STUFF.REF. ( I'm gonna wear out the shift key doin that as well.lol) could that be it? 2) funny thing with what he got is my route was 80% complete with traqckage and I have used the new ALL_STUFF.REF after that 80% and got no problems laying trackage. now I made a new 10 tile route to test your newest version and funny thing is there are now 4 tracks that give the no extended shape when clicked on. I will give you the names of them in an hour. I have to recover my mail through outlook express and like Rich said my MSTS doesn't work with the editors either. 3) tried the pickups in an activity and in explore route. no dice on em. tried moving the car little bit each time forward or back but nope. ran out of cars before the thng worked. never did actually. 4) I noticed in the post you made someone posted pics of an intermodal crane and barge. they aren't in mine. either version. any ideas? or are they custom objects he downloaded or made? 5) I will post the track sections and any other probs in about 60 minutes. I will also answer any questions you miht have. just post em. I am your giunie pig. tell me what to test and I will. I'm tryin to be a jack of all trades here like I am with everything else I get into. I don't like being confined to one thing. i.e. just skinning, building locos, fixing broken objects, etc. Like my desktop background says HP INVENT and that's just what I'm doing. I mastered reskinning and am now mastering that f#$%ing coupler. the thing is like micro$haft doesn't respond to anything really. I will talk to my friend when he gets on to confirm again what he has nad doesn't have. also I changed my track textures to black but that caused no problems either. could it be that when I changed the textures it allowed the new tracks to work and not for my friend? Let me know if you need to know anything else. I'll get back to you ASAP. Craig Shortino not worried about his computer crashing and having to recover so ask away for anything needing testing. that's happened 3 times so I'm used to it now.P.S. Jim since you made all these things come out of the MSTS closet I'm gonna do you a huge favor in return. I am going to make 2 SW1500's, a GP9, and repaint all the stations with the proper names for the PO&Nv5. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-03-02, 02:02 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Ok Sniper Here's your answers to the questions in your post. ( it got too long lol )" The ship and container crane are not in there, those are add-on custom objects.
I'm baffled by why you should be having problems, did you;
1. paste the \stuffed folder, EZstuff4.bat, and All_Stuff.raf into the root of the route,
2. run the batch file,
3. delete the route's ref file and rename All_Stuff.ref to whatever the route's ref file was called?I haven't experimented with add ons too much, the only thing I can think of is there might be something in your \global\tsection.dat file. I do need to know which shape file, the error message sometimes gives you dbleslip.sd, and sometimes \global\dbleslip.sd depending on what kind of missing track sections have been previously installed. I have the Hoboken Shore, but I think that missing 250 meter single curve he added was in the route, not in the global tsection.Just for fun, let's see if we can make this thread too long before it dies too!

Jan-03-02, 03:20 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Ok Sniper Here's your answers to the questions in your post. ( it got too long lol )" LAST EDITED ON Jan-03-02 AT 03:42 PM (EST)Hi Jim.I went through each list and here's what I get. ok here's the errors I recieve for the each thing in each section:no extended shape data for A1t250r10d.s ( however after clicking yes to continue it places the track section and is visible )for mainline stations I get this error: failed to open texture file routes\my route name\textures\Platform.ace 4 times I have to click yes to continuethere is also a blank section in mainline stations where something should be but there is no thumbnail nor is there a namein track objects there are a few level crossings such as JP2crossing1NoBar, JP2crossing1NoBarAngled1 & 2 that cannot be placed no matter where on the road\track meet you try and place itSo far that's it. I am going to lay each thing down and see what gets errors when trying to place it and also see what gets errors when starting the sim. I will report all findings to that either in a few hours or tonight as I have alot of things to do. If you need to know anything else let me know. I shall try as best I can to explain the problem and see if I can fix it. also let me know if you want to know what is in the wrong categories. I will let you know what you want soon. Also I talked to my friend and he said he didn't add any custom objects of any kind. Whenever he clicked to place a track section it just crashed. no errors or the don't send to Micro$haft message. Just thought I'd let ya know. ohh and Lakehurst NJ ehh? Been there lots of times. I grew up 45 minutes from that field. Brings back memories.lol Craig Shortino Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

( it got too long lol )" TopDog, the container ship and the crane are Objects that you may download from www.thetrain.de or www.trainplaza.nl,,, I added them to Snipers PO&N just because i like my routes to be a little different.. I was trying to convert a ore ship from another sim to work in MSTS but ran into a problem with the poly count(was in excess of 30,000).
Plus i like to give that O'le Sniper some ideas !!

I am doing a route that has alot of industries, docks, and mines and they would fit in nicely. I think if sniper gets the pickup objects to work then he will have alot of ideas for the mines.lol. considering you can now take full coal hoppers to the cadman docks, pickup some empties there, then reload em in the mine, then bring em back. Hey sniper pleeeeeeaaaaassssseeeeee get these pickups workin I wanna build that activity now. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-04-02, 00:32 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Ok Sniper Here's your answers to the questions in your post. ( it got too long lol )" I coulda sworn somebody else already had some pickup objects working, I think it was "tryagin" (Tim). No sense re-inventing the wheel, just gotta find out how they did it.
The Japanese crossing gates are along the same lines tho, I think it's a question of you have to do certain things in the proper order to get them working correctly. I have to lay down track, lay a road section across that, then position the cursor in juuuuuust the right place and click... nope. Cannot create here, too far from track or road. After six tries or so I manage to hit the exact spot the RE is looking for, but you'd have to ask one of the guys like Rich or Steve Suckow how to get all those gates and bells working correctly.
There are two Japan signal lights I'm going to try to remove, 5 light pentagon and 7 light, they aren't in Japan1 or 2, so I don't know where JS got them from. They don't give error messages, they just return you to the object menu when you try to place them. Probably some other objects like that, gonna take some time to chase them all down.
As I suspected, tho, your missing track sections are not related to the Allstuff beta package.
A1t250r10d.s is not in there, you got that either from the Hoboken Shore route or the Xtracks package. No single track 250 meter curve in Allstuff. I suspect you may have placed it on the route somewhere, and that's where the error message is coming from.
Don't feel bad about that, I downloaded the physics 2. upgrade when it first came out, and while I was enjoying the new head out view I noticed I was no longer getting any sound from my right speaker. Real obvious when you change from front to back view. So I deleted the Physics 2.0 hack, replaced the backup of the default KUJU engine, problem solved, so I figured there was a glitch in the 2.0 hack somewhere. Until a few days later, the right speaker cut out again. Turns out the stereo jack had a loose wire, so after replacing that I reinstalled physics 2.0, no problems. Tracing down bugs is not easy, those bugs want to live, so they'll throw curveballs stuffed with red herrings at you just to keep you guessing.

Jan-04-02, 05:11 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Ok Sniper Here's your answers to the questions in your post. ( it got too long lol )" Heya Jim. I don't have the xtracks. I am not a route builder like you guys yet so I don't need slips and such as I can barely build an interchange without having to align the tracks with dynamic track sections. No offense but maybe the batch put it in there? I mean you said yourself the batch puts in more than you really need so maybe it is not just copying from the 6 originals and the globals but also from other routes we add. now while this is a good thing if you have custom objects on different routes and don't want to hunt them down just add the line to the ref file the downside is you will get errors like I got. I got the error for the trck in the track section box. not even clicking on it. just scrolling down the list. Same with the platform. funny thing about the platform error is it appears when you get near that missing section. if you tell me how to take a screenshot of the editors interface and post it I will so you can see what i see. I know how to upload pics just not from the editors. is it the same as regular screenshots? The platform is down the list near the bottom but the missing section of just white with no name or thumbnail is near the top. so why does the error come up there? I dunno. I'll try to figure that out. Also I haven't layed anything else yet as I got this erge to try my hand at the cab editor for a bit to take my mind off the coupler and all. I'm gettin the hang of it. in 2 hours I built a brand new High Nose cab complete with alpha channel. not bad ehh? I'll do a search in here to see if anyone had the pickups working. I'll talk to you and hopefully post a few screenies in a few. Craig Shortino Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jan-04-02, 11:29 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Ok Sniper Here's your answers to the questions in your post. ( it got too long lol )" Woof! Woof! Barking up the wrong tree again, Craig! The track sections aren't referenced by the ref file, they come to the RE object menu from the tsection.dat file. There is no 250 meter single track curve in the \stuffed missing shape files folder, and the batch file doesn't copy the A1t250r shapes from the \global either. The shape files, a1t250r10d.s, a1t250r20d.s, a1t250r5d.s, are in the \global folder on a default MSTS route, but since there are no matching .sd files for that piece, KUJU left the reference out of the \global\tsection.dat file, which is the master file for every route. The batch file;:start

If you have any files in the route's \shapes folder that start with A1t, they didn't come from this package, and shouldn't be in there unless Xtracks or something like it is installed.
If you look at the seven groups of lines above the new ones, from the original, you'll see that they copy from \template, Europe 1 & 2, Japan 1 & 2, and USA 1 & 2, and nothing else.
I have 20 some-odd nieces and nephews (lost count), 4 kids of my own (3 of them older than you are) and 13 grandchildren. I know how teenagers are with hacking, so either you or one of your friends did something funky to the route you're talking about, now let's see if we can figure out what it really is so we can fix it. And whichever one of your buddies turns out to be the culprit, let's put him on ritalin and see if we can't cool his jets a little, he's too wild. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
