Dec-30-01, 06:24 PM (EST) "Northern Michigan Iron Ore Route" I am interested in designing a Northern Michigan (UP)iron ore route. Some of these lines have (to my knowledge) have been torn out of Marquette, Michigan but I do have actual pictures of the ore docks on Lake Superior and the tressel works heading towards the docks. Where I need help is obtaining a rail map of the SOO and Lake Superior & Ishpeming lines. I am also new to MSTS and very new to route editors so any info or other people who may have similar routes would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Subscribe to it, and start doing archive searches. There have been several threads concerning the Soo ore operations around Marquette. Post a message on your needs, and I'm sure that there are folks that can point you in the right direction. Secondly, do a web search for "Soo Line Historical and Technical Society". The offer back issues of their magazine/newsletter, and I'm sure that there are articles on your topic of interest. I'm presently attempting to do the Soo ore operations between Ashland and the Gogebic range. I have the route completely DEMed, and rail market flags inserted with the assistance of "Convert3". I hope to start laying track tonight. Good luck on your research.
regards,

Jan-01-02, 11:27 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Northern Michigan Iron Ore Route" Marquette had three railroads serving the local iron ore mines.
*Lake Superior & Ispheming -a small regional used Alco power and
now uses older GE units.
*Duluth South Shore & Atlantic (D.S.S.&A) merged with Soo Line
in the 50's (see web site for info) now mostly abandoned.
*Chicago & North Western (merged w/Union Pacific sold to Wis.
Central merged w/CN). Serves Tilden and Empire iron mines.
I worked for the C&NW on their ORE DIVISION from 1986-1988, I'd
be glad to send you copies of the info and maps I have. Reply to
