Dec-28-01, 09:44 PM (EST) "Uh..This aint right?(or is it)" Okay, I’ve been working with the DEM extractor and when I enter the route editor all I get is flat land. I’m was trying to do the Copper Basin Railroad at the beginning of December and where I started (Hayden Arizona) there was just green flat land, no river, desert, and mountains like there should have been. Is there something wrong with my editor. Help!!Behold The POWER of Black and Gold: THE RIO GRANDE RAILROAD Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Uh..This aint right?(or is it)" LAST EDITED ON Dec-28-01 AT 10:00 PM (EST)I'm certain there's nothing wrong with your editor....Did the DEM extractor say it generated any tiles? or did it say it skipped them? If it skipped some then maybe you're on one it skipped. If it skipped all of them, well then go figure...Or maybe you picked the wrong units and your terrain now ranges from 0.1 meters to 0.3 meters high? Dec-29-01, 08:20 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Uh..This aint right?(or is it)" Did you mean DEMExtractor or the Route Geometry Extractor? Sorry if that sounds patronizing, but just want to clarify what program you're using...-Andy

Dec-29-01, 09:55 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Uh..This aint right?(or is it)" Be sure to read the other replys. There is merit there. I have, more than once, used the wrong units and either created the American Andes, or the American Sahara. However, there is another thing to consider.Unless the terrain is very hilly, it may not appear to have much relief until you "touch" the tiles. Shadows, etc. will not generate until you perform this step.Follow along your route, and go into the terrain select tool, I believe it is called (bottom row, 2nd from left). When you do this, all of the tiles will be bounded with blue borders, and the internal sub-files will be in black. Click on a tile until it turns on a red morder, in place of the black. When this happens, right-click, and where it says to set floor and height, select that. Increase the height by "1". This forces the program to compute the shadowing etc. for the whole tile. You can do this before laying any track, during, or after, however you choose. Here is the mode commands. The depressed one is what you need.Message Areas - "Uh..This aint right?(or is it)" – image 1J. H. Sullivan, P.E. (retired) Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
