Dec-18-01, 04:26 AM (EST) "Quick blip on Route Control compatibility..." Hey guys,It just occured to me to post this here as a heads-up. If any of you have tried Route Control you've seen that it shows a preview picture for each route installed. The way it gets these pictures is by looking into the original zip file for any gifs, jpegs, or bmps under a certain size (800x600). As soon as it finds one, it will use it as the preview picture for the route. If there is more than one image in the zip file you have no real control over which one Route Control uses to represent your route. If there are no images, Route Control will use its default picture. However, if you include a jpg image in the zip with the filename tszipname.jpg, Route Control will use that image for the route. That way you can decide which image the user sees. For instance, if my zip file is called "jaks_route" then my preview image should be called "tsjaks_route.jpg". The best image size is 256x192, but 320x240 is good as well. The larger it is the more time it takes Route Control to deal with it. It only shows on screen at 256x192 anyway.I wanted to let you all know that you can create your own image and control how your route is presented visually to Route Control users before they run it in Train Simulator. If there are no images included in the zip at all, this is how the user will see your route:
The default image aint all that pretty, let me tell you.
Thanks. Jak Fearon

PS- Before release we created several preview images for routes that didn't have any, so your exisiting routes most likely have a nice picture to go along with them in Route Control already. This post is primarily for new routes coming out. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
