Dec-14-01, 04:29 PM (EST) "Changing water color?" Is there any way to adjust water color, such as making it bluer for tropical oceans? I have run a search and haven't turned up anything. Thanks in advance. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

LAST EDITED ON Dec-14-01 AT 05:01 PM (EST)LAST EDITED ON Dec-14-01 AT 04:53 PM (EST)This link;http://fly.to/mwgfx will give you a bunch of choices for tools, best one IMAO is TGAtool2.exe, which will convert ace files to bmp or tga and back again. The water itself is made up of 3 layers, with different degrees of transparency, so editing the color of one has an overall effect on the color you see from the top. I edited only the bottom layer to make it black (the bottom of the water is the roof of the coal mine on the Port Ogden & Northern), and the top of the water got a slightly greener cast than normal.
The 3 files are in your route's \Envfiles\Textures folder, waterbot.ace, watermid.ace, and watertop.ace. I would suggest only editing watermid.ace to start, since that one affects most strongly the shade you'll see from above.Addendum: took a while, but using keyword search water (color) I came up with this old one;http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/2078.html Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-14-01, 04:53 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Changing water color?" Sure, peice of cake!!! Go into the envfiles texture folder and you will see 3 water textures....... Water top is the one you want to change...note, I believe it has a alpha channel in it, so be sure to back it up if you dont know or are not sure about alpha channels. But thats wherre its at anyway. Hope that helps.Mark
