Dec-13-01, 08:41 PM (EST) 1. "RE: in need of a Replacement Bridge" This is a sore point. I'm building the Goldendale Branch in south-central Washington State. The line follows and crosses creeks and Rivers numerous times. I'm getting very tired of the Japanese and European things, they just don't look right. I think the only out for us is to fork over the moolah and buy a good 3d modeller prog. and build them ourselves! We can't wait for someone else to do it. I also need some NP style Stations and assorted paraphenalia.Tim Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-13-01, 10:35 PM (EST) 2. "RE: in need of a Replacement Bridge" I'm playing with bridges in TS Modeler in my spare time. Built a Warren through truss with about 4,000 polygons, but the deck bridge below only has 76, so I'm getting better.I may put a few up for grabs as I get them done.Message Areas - "in need of a Replacement Bridge" – image 1 Message Areas - "in need of a Replacement Bridge" – image 2 Message Areas - "in need of a Replacement Bridge" – image 3Message Areas - "in need of a Replacement Bridge" – image 4 In the meantime here's this one.http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/User_files/3c19736c1d52d683.zip

Dec-14-01, 10:12 AM (EST) 6. "RE: in need of a Replacement Bridge" If I post these for upload I'm be making copies without the logo. To fix this one all you would need to do is to replace the ace file. Not sure when I'll have a chance to fix this yet.Nick Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-14-01, 10:19 AM (EST) 7. "RE: in need of a Replacement Bridge" LAST EDITED ON Dec-14-01 AT 10:20 AM (EST)I'm starting to do something like that myself. I plan to create a series of shorter sections, using various types of bridge components, then combining them into the full bridge itself. See the screenshot for an idea of what I'm talking about. Maybe some of the pieces I'm creating might be useful for you. What does the whole bridge look like?NickMessage Areas - "in need of a Replacement Bridge" – image 5 Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-14-01, 11:40 AM (EST) 9. "RE: in need of a Replacement Bridge" Nick;My exact idea as well. In a week when I'm back in Decatur I plan on taking photos of bridges as well as other stuff to use in TSM. I wan't to stop using the standard stuff and make the IC route even more prototypical.David Klemm

Dec-14-01, 10:23 PM (EST) 12. "RE: in need of a Replacement Bridge" You're right. I did a search with WebFerret, and that's all I could come up with too. Can anybody living in the area come up with anything more? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-14-01, 10:54 PM (EST) 13. "RE: in need of a Replacement Bridge" Here are two versions of the 50 ft deck bridge. One with the RIO Grande logo, one with no logo. The Rio Grande version is the same as the one I posted above, but this one has the compressed ace file (down from 1.3 MB to 48 KB!) This was the first time I've tried using Acecomp, and it sure worked well here.http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/User_files/3c1ac92732a0a565.zip Rio Grande logohttp://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/User_files/3c1ac94c32ed9e7a.zip No logo Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-14-01, 11:08 PM (EST) 14. "RE: in need of a Replacement Bridge" I really couldn't stop myself from responding. If anyone is looking for a reasonably priced 3D modeling package, especially for MSTS, there is nothing to compare to TSM by Abacus. You will find some really great features in this program. And if you doubt that, just ask ExpressMark.L Perkins

Dec-14-01, 11:55 PM (EST) 16. "RE: in need of a Replacement Bridge" LAST EDITED ON Dec-15-01 AT 00:02 AM (EST)Would you rather pay the $3000.00 plus for 3D Max? Over the years I have used 3D Max and LightWave 3D, and yes, even the tried and true Video Toaster. I have also used Canvas 3D Pro. For the price and the features, TSM is way good deal.L PerkinsIt should be noted that I have used all of the above except TSM for comercial work. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-15-01, 00:30 AM (EST) 17. "RE: in need of a Replacement Bridge" Too bloody right! I built my first complicated object 4 days after I bought it, and currently have completed 4 projects, and have another 4 in progress. The most time-consuming part of the whole process was learning enough PSP 7 to start skinning.Note that prior to this I had NO 3-D modeling experience. Jan-16-02, 09:26 AM (EST) 19. "RE: in need of a Replacement Bridge" Motley24Crue2, I thought I saw a couple of bridge sections you could combine to make a bridge similar to that. Also have you started laying track yet? I would like to combine efforts with you on the NEC since I already have an extension under way. You've seen the screenshots I posted a little while back. I also tried to email you my work in progress, but it wouldn't allow me to send you an attachment that large. Anyway, let me know if there is another way I could send you the file. Maybe through FTP or something. It would be a shame to have both of us doing the same route but working on it going in different directions. Plus we could get it extended further and alot quicker working on it together. Let me know how we can combine efforts or how I can send my route to you. Thanks.
