Dec-12-01, 04:45 AM (EST) "Toodle-Pip !" I've decided that its in everyone's best interest if I cease involvement with this Forum.I have posted tstf3.zip to the File library here, so it should be available in a few days. I can still be reached by e-mail if TSTF users have any problems. I will be using it intensely myself over the next few weeks so will hopefully rectify any problems with another update.I read in one of LK's latest posts :"And, I for one--and I know there are more than just me because they have e-mailed me--will NOT *ever* be using or even trying one of your products."Now just what purpose does that serve? If TSTF has any merit for anyone, then they are just cutting off their nose to spite their face. This is just one example of the pettymindedness that lies behind this debacle.I'd like to thank everyone for their private messages of support over the past 48 hours - it's good to know that so many share my views on this. Non whatsoever for those US members that are happy with the existent tool-set for US DEM.... but if you live in Europe and there is a paucity (http://www.askoxford.com/)of free DEM data then your application is invaluableIf TSTF has any

Dec-12-01, 07:15 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Toodle-Pip !" I'm sorry that you have taken such a decision.>"And, I for one--and I know there are more than just me because >they have e-mailed me--will NOT *ever* be using or even trying >one of your products."LK has to decide what's good for him, but he definetly don't speak for the hole forum.Myself and a lot of other route developers working in areas outside the US-DEM coverage has to find other ways to make up our terrain, and your development is one of them.I'd sure like you to stay on the forum further on, we need a common place to share this information and development.Just a simple opinion from one out of many that appreciate your work so far.RuO Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-12-01, 08:37 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Toodle-Pip !" As of this morning at 5:33 am PST (GMT -0700), there were 5055 Active Members in the forum. That means there are 5054 potential users of your program. 5054 people that will be missing the potential help that you can provide with your program which addresses an issue of the data avaiable, or lack thereof, for most of the world. At the risk of starting this up again, just because I choose not to use your program because of the manner in which you pressed the attack, even when I determined I was going to stop, does not negate the fact that the program has its merits. So just remember this, if you decide to continue with this course of action, you have allowed one person, one small person in the group of 5055, to control your actions in the face of 5054 potential users of your product. Even if you were to sell it (and I know that receiving remuneration for your software is not your goal, but please let me continue) at only US$1 per copy, and all 5054 bought it, you would be losing over US$5,000 because of this decision. Now is that something you want to lose?Lawrence Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-12-01, 11:32 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Toodle-Pip !" LAST EDITED ON Dec-12-01 AT 11:34 AM (EST)Hey, man, that would be real sad. I am using TSTF daily, and, WOW, real terrain at last. Much better than the gently rolling nothing of the crap DEM the Rest Of The World (outside the US)has to tolerate.
Be a shame to lose you
Regards 7andYI knew there was something else... you CAN get good DEM in the UK - for 250GBP per SQUARE KM!!!! Would cost me 15,000 GBP just for my little 15x20Km route... Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
