Dec-10-01, 01:29 AM (EST) "DEMEX for Australia: JohnCS ?" JohnFlogging that old leathery tired dead horse to pulp, er ... any chance you have time to look at DEMEX for Aus. I am certain it is not user error on my behalf and I am yet to hear of an Ausy who can get it to work for this part of the world (and we're not ALL stupid down under).I've even tried with scanned map contour data converted to 30m XYZ with no luck.Cheers

Dec-10-01, 07:31 PM (EST) 1. "RE: DEMEX for Australia: JohnCS ?" I may be revisiting DEMEX here in the next month or so. I will make another run at down-under then. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-11-01, 07:26 AM (EST) 2. "RE: DEMEX for Australia: JohnCS ?" PW,I'm not sure what DEM data you are using, and whether you are prepared to pay for a solution, but TsTools can import and terraform from the GRD data available from www.auslig.gov.au .Cheers,Dave C Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-13-01, 01:01 AM (EST) 3. "RE: DEMEX for Australia: JohnCS ?" Thanks for both replies.I am possibly interested in paying something for a solution, but the exchange rate kills me in Aus. The price of TSTools (29 USD ?) alone is almost what I paid for MSTS. Auslig's DEM prices are over the top for low-ish res data. It's scanned maps for me at the moment.

Dec-14-01, 08:22 AM (EST) 5. "RE: DEMEX for Australia: JohnCS ?" Auslig's DEM data is extraordinarily priced for mediocre quality data.... AU$108 (=US$55) per tile for 250 metre DEM - you need 23 tiles to cover a state like Victoria (according to Land Victoria - part of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment).Moving up to the "premium" 100 metre DEM, which covers only the coastal area of New South Wales and requires 18 tiles to cover this coastal strip, you'll pay AU$162 per tile.500 metre DEM is likewise $162 per tile. All the above are annually renewable licence fees <g!>, not purchase prices.30 metre or (perish the thought) 10 metre DEM is simply not available at any price.RegardsYuri.
