Dec-07-01, 08:38 AM (EST) "Track pack beta 2" Since there actually was some interest in some of the tracks I made an installation of I've continued with a second beta including views gained from the first beta and with some additional tracks. Those that announced interest in beta-1 have got an e-mail with instructions on how to download beta-2. I do not mail the file as it has increased slightly in size. Here's a list of track sections in beta-2 (some are experimental):

The 3-way does not allow you to exit the third track but you can go through it backwards? When the beta-testers have looked it over I will make a public release to the file-library. In the meantime I hope to find some time to try out TrainSim Modeller and to continue with the G.D.Line.

Dec-08-01, 09:10 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Track pack beta 2" LAST EDITED ON Dec-08-01 AT 09:11 AM (EST)Hi,Does this mean, we shall see narrow gauge railways?. That's great news. And can we mix narrow gauge and standard on one route. I mean a station with two types. That is (was) quite ordinary in the real world, as many small branch lines were narrow gauge. I'm looking forward and have to learn route building really now and possibly vehicle building.By way is 3 feet wide the same as 1067mm?Dick van den Hoven Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-09-01, 04:15 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Track pack beta 2" Actually, three feet is equal to 923.1mm, but I'd say that in the simulator, it'd be close enough to represent any near-meter gauge prototype...RDF

1067mm is 3 foot 6 inches - "Cape" gauge....used in Africa in countries such as Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, etc (legacy of Cecil Rhodes). In Australia is/was used in Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland, Tasmania. In Victoria, Bellarine Peninsula Railway (tourisr railway outside Melbourne) is also 3'6" gauge. OTOH, "Puffing Billy", also near Melbourne is 2'6" gauge.HTH.RegardsYuri.

Dec-08-01, 08:26 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Track pack beta 2" How do you create track switches? I ran into problems trying to create track switches, especially double-crossovers. How do you apply textures to track sections? I ran into problems trying to apply textures to track sections. Jeffrey. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-10-01, 03:42 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Track pack beta 2" Actually I don't know! Those narrow gauge tracks are scaled down normal gauge (60%) and not original sections. Not perfect but will do until someone figures how to make original new track sections.Yes you can mix tracks of different gauges and 3 feet is close to 0.9 meters depending on how large feet you've got. In tsection.dat the tracks are stated as 0.9 meters, normal gauge is stated as 1.5 meters by Kuju.

Dec-12-01, 07:28 AM (EST) 6. "RE: Track pack beta 2" By decompressing the s-file and multiplying all points by 0.6 and a few other things that need to be done. It's not that hard if you know what you're doing.
