"RE: Whats a good 3d card for MSTS" Hi Craig,It seems like eveythings going in the direction of GeForce III cards these days, they're even bringing out motherboards to match. I have 128 kb of ram as well, and its big trouble when you use the route editor as you must save very often (a good idea anyway) especially when manipulating scenery up and down. Pretty quickly you get the "Send to Microsoft" crash.Ram is extreamly cheep at the moment, and apart from the graphics card is the best thing to increase your framerate, I would go for 512 Mb if you can afford it, or you may be able to buy a 256 Mb ram and run with your 128 Mb to get 384 Mb.
I havent bought new cards or Ram cause I have a laptop.Terry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Whats a good 3d card for MSTS" Hi Terry. thanks for the advice. the 3d card question is for a friend. my 64mb ram Nvidia Vanta is good enough for now. the ram question was for me though. i know what you mean about 128mb ram for the route editor. i save very often bt yet i get the dumb send/don't send message. stupid bug.lol. wish they'd bring out a patch for that. i'm going to upgrade my ram right after christmas. i plan on bringing it up to about 5xx megs. thanks again. I haven't even updated drivers in 4 months and it's still working great.Get Winsystem98 and you can free up RAM any time you want/need. Then you need just restart the route editor after freeing the ram. It works fine on my machine, route editor would work many hours without rebooting. I have 384MB of RAM, virtual memory turned off(why use it when I have enough real memory?).Enocell Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
