Dec-05-01, 05:39 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Route Finally Finished" 103 Mb!is that all custom objects? do you not use any microsoft objects that we all have and therefore just need to be copied. Unlike you I dont have ADSL I only have ISDN (It Still Does Nothin)!Terry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-05-01, 08:10 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Route Finally Finished" Well I wanted to make sure it would work ok, so I just included everything. It should not take too long to download even on idsn.
Having a few problems uploading it, my stupid server is having one of it's stupid periods, they usually only last a day or so.
I will re-post it if anyone is having problems downloading it. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-05-01, 08:45 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Route Finally Finished" Hi. i unfortunatly have a 56k modem. did you remove the e_raw and n_raw files? i think those are the ones. they make the file smaller. also you could remove all the objects from the route that came with MSTS and leave the custom ones in. that should shrink the file quite a bit. Try this;http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/User_files/3bca43f267d4e8c4.ziptools and instructions for packaging included, but if you did include custom objects, make sure you follow instructions closely to include those while deleting the common stuff. Dec-05-01, 09:49 AM (EST) 6. "RE: Route Finally Finished" I got everything mixed up like a dog's breakfast. It would take me a week to sort it all out to common and custom.
I spent a month making the route and fought with that stupid editor, it deleted big chunks of track on me and other stupid things. I was almost ready to give up on it. I can download real fast off my news server. I think most news servers carry alt.binaries.games. I know it may be a pain for dialups, but what can I do about that? *sigh*
Maby someone has 20 gigs of server space they are not using and can post it on there. Just a thought. Jezz this is the year 2001 and we are crying about a lousy 103 megs. I know it really sucks, but we don't have much control over things as it stands now. Well try and download it anyways. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Route Finally Finished" LAST EDITED ON Dec-05-01 AT 09:05 AM (EST)LAST EDITED ON Dec-05-01 AT 09:04 AM (EST)LAST EDITED ON Dec-05-01 AT 09:00 AM (EST)Are we allowed to copy everything? like all the microsoft stuff, onto a public site for everone else to download? I thought that was the problem with the Tapachi Route that MS came down on them for using objects and redistributing them. (I know the they are charging for that so it might be different). I'm not trying to say you are in the wrong but it needs to be considered. Also there is a very good batch utility which you can use to copy all the objects from the 6 routes to your route, which means no copywrite is infringed AND your route is considerably smaller in size. I really would have liked to download your route, the pictures look interesting enough for me to have tried it out but..1) On ISDN I downloaded 6Mb in 15 mins therefore your route will take 4 hours and 15 mins and I have to pay for on-line time.2) I believe I would be infringing MS EULA.I'll have to wait to see what the other members say about it.PS (looks like they are begining to feel the same way, the two above appeared while I was editing this message *Hi Craig!*)Terry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-05-01, 11:01 AM (EST) 7. "RE: Route Finally Finished" Hi Terry. your right about the d/l time. thats why i lost the internet for a year. aol was long distance. cost me $0.15 a minute. i d/led the ESE express from train artisan and it was only 33 megs and it took 5 hours. so i'll have to wait for a smaller version. a shame though. it looks very good. i almost d/led it but alas i don't have 17 hours to d/l a route. sorry. but my internet connection disconnects every 8 hours for some reason. they told me this but its a small price to ay for not having to pay 15 cents a minute though. if you get it down to say 50 megs i'll d/l it for sure just e-mail me when you do.
