Dec-02-01, 06:49 AM (EST) "who created the Port Ogden and Northern?" I have a question for that person but I do not know who created it? although I have an idea but I am posting just to make sure, I have something to ask them about it.

Well, you come to the right place for exchanging ideas, Evildarkcow, you got some kind of suggestion I'd be delighted to hear it. I might not like it, but even if someone suggests what I think is a stupid idea, it frequently leads to a better idea with a little polishing, so I'm always willing to listen. Hell, I stole most of my good ideas from people on this forum without even filing off the serial numbers. I really enjoy this route so much, I couldn't think of anything good to make it better, maybe a few dead end signs? I crashed my train in the coal mine once (should have expected that) and off the dock twice! I wanted to know if I could make the PO&N for Trainz when Trainz gets here, so those people that think they are to good to use MSTS will be able to run trains on your fine routePlease.... don't post in here about how trainz or msts is better then the other, I feel kind of bad in asking if I could make the PO&N in trainz but I thought I would like to see it in there because I liked it so muchI still like MSTS and of course nothing would or could replace the real Port Ogden and Northern!BTW I think the map included with the route is missing a tunnle on it?

Evildarkcow, you have my blessing for what it's worth, I still consider Trainz to be "vaporware" at the moment, if and when it becomes an actual working product I might or might not do a version of the PO&N for it. If your version comes out first and I don't think I can do any better, I probably wouldn't. The goal is to make interesting routes that are fun to play on, it really don't matter who makes which one since we're not getting cash money for doing it. Variety is the key, too, some like strawberry some like butter pecan, "Bow Valley" is a hacked version of the PO&N made by a crazy Australian, some people might prefer one over the other, I have both mine and his on my disk, play with whichever one fits the mood of the moment. Or neither, I sometimes highball thru the East Metro with a Pacific pulling a passenger train, or try to keep the Lake Street B train on schedule on the Chicago Elevated, or switch cars around on the Hoboken Shore. As long as a bunch of good routes, activities, and add-on rolling stock are available for free, does it really matter who makes what?
Anyway, PO&N 5 for MSTS (as opposed to PO&N 1 for Trainz, if and when) is probably not going to be ready by Christmas, so I couldn't charge money for it anyway even if I got around the EULA. Here's a progress report;

I'll probably start doing the PO&N right as soon as I can get the hang of it... I mean playing with the layout editor thingy... if I'm not doing good or whatever would you want me to drop you an email saying so or something? just in case you start working on the others because I am going to be trying to do it.I'll have enough time to do it of course so I expect to be working on it around clock.... Sooner or later I'll probably add some new twist to the route and such but I'll keep the PO&N trainz route and any big changes made on the MSTS PO&N I would reflect onto the trainz one.

PO&N is all yours mate Im gonna start a 4 baseboard route..then an 8..after that I want to recreate the yards and docks of Bow River, Might mix it up and add some parts from Bow Valley into it too.. Then I'll just create Bow River and Bow Valley merged together as one, So by all means ..if you wish to do PO&N, Then i wont bother and will be content to work on somethings else.. Plus i was kinda hoping that Jim would buy this game in future months and recreate PO&N for us... Actually i just remembered i want to do my City soon..so maybe that will be my second project ? who knows, as someones signiture says.. Like Bo said I was refering to James Hettfield and Lars Ulrich of Metalica fame in regards to the use of the line "And it comes to be that the speeding light at the end of the tunnel is just a freight train rolling your way." For all those unaware Metalica is a band who hasn't put out a decent album since '86 and has since then taken to suing anybody and everybody, even some people who had named their cat Metalica. Ironicaly in '87 they had to recall their album "Garage Days Re-Revisted" due to lawsuits stemming from copyright infringement.
