Dec-03-01, 09:23 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Tehachapi modelers?" Just got Tehachapi for my 15th birthday on 11/29 and would like to know how to get the car spawner to work on Highway 58 and to bring objects from other routes to the Tehachapi moutains.
Plus, does any one have the cars to helper locomotive ratios, I saw it in a book and cant find it Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-04-01, 02:13 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Tehachapi modelers?" I haven't tried the car spawner yet, but have successfully imported the crossing gates from Marias Pass into the route. I posted the following on the 3DTrainstuff forum:To add new objects, you need three things: 1) An .s file, which is the MSTS format model -- I assume you know how to create these or already have some available. This goes in the SHAPES directory of the route. 2) Texture(s) for the model, which are .ace files. These go in the TEXTURES directory of the route. 3) You must change the route's .ref (e.g., tehachapi.ref) file to add a definition for each object. The description for each static object (i.e., buildings) looks like this: Static (
FileName ( c_bridge.s )
Shadow ( DYNAMIC )
Class ( "3DTS Bridges" )
Align ( None )
Description ( "3DTS Concrete Road Bridge" )
) Now you can open the route editor and select the 'Placement' palette to add objects. (Contrary to MS's documentation, there is no 'add object' button.) Click 'More' and the new items should appear in the listing of available object classes. I tried to use the EZStuffit to bulk copy all the objects at once but wound up with errors, so would suggest trying to copy only specific items that you need. Chip

Dec-04-01, 02:18 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Tehachapi modelers?" I wonder if it would be possible for someone to write a script so that users could place scenic items (e.g., crossing gates, etc.) on the route -- I know MS's license agreement seems to forbid payware routes from doing this, but it seems like a tremendous waste if everybody has to reinvent the wheel every time.--C. Dec-05-01, 01:04 AM (EST) 6. "RE: Tehachapi modelers?" Don't look now, but The full 2 CD down load of MSTS is on Morpheus right now. I don't see any body els's stuff there, but in due time it will be there.
I sell 3D models for a program called Poser, a human form animation tool. Morpheus has become a real problem. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-05-01, 02:07 AM (EST) 7. "RE: Tehachapi modelers?" Dekosoft,We have included many pictures on the CD. Look in the Route Manual folder, and there is a sub-folder named Images and it contains many photos of the route. The Route manual is a word document, and it oughtta have captions for the photos to describe their locations. Hope this helps! John Greenstone

Dec-05-01, 09:06 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Tehachapi modelers?" Just so ya all know, I've tried to dl MSTS off Morpehus serval times, (I own my own copy so dont freak out on me) and it usually doesnt work, ie missing files, or a hoax, happens all the time, so I wouldn't recoomend dling it, plus it takes a lot of space up. Hell pay microsoft, as a comp programmer, I would charge a couple of thousand for a promgram like this, your luck, 50 bucks is worth it. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-05-01, 09:07 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Tehachapi modelers?" oh yeah, I also want to add that I am planning on buying the Loop for cmas, I kind of lick the lack of scenery so it doesn't eat up my frame rates. Questions is is it worth it? And is it have good frame rates? Thanks Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-08-01, 09:31 PM (EST) 10. "RE: Tehachapi modelers?" I would certainly second (and really appreciate) the earlier post's suggestion of a script for bringing scenery into Techachapi Route. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
