Nov-26-01, 11:06 PM (EST) "SOLVED - HOW TO IMPORT OBJECTS INTO TS AS TRACK SECTIONS" I did it. My 'monorail' line is now a track section and can be placed in the editor just like the track. However, another problem has presented itself:Normal track sits flat on the ground, it's axis point is at ground zero also and the trains run on this axis level. A monorail line also sits on the ground but it's rail is some several odd metres in the air. When I put a train onto it, it ran on the ground, where the axis was located, "underneath the rail" not on top of it.The axis point for the monorail track was repositioned on top of the rail, however, in the TS route editor, the rail surface was then ground level with the supports underground. I could use the F3 function to raise the first piece but thereafter each piece would still land ground level while still being connected to the first. Who can solve this??ps, The monorail line is actually a guideway for the German Maglev train. It may also now be possible to make bridges this way and have multiple sections auto connect like the rail.Anyway, here's how the object was put into the tsection.dat file:
The AAABBBCCC is just to indicate other entries in the dat file.
The Object I created was named A1g63mstrt.s
A1 - standard prefix for single line sections
g - denotes guideway rather than 't' for track
63 - length in metres. Real length of a single guideway section.
mstrt - straight sectionAAABBBCCC
AAABBBCCCTrackSection ( 344
SectionSize ( 1.5 63 )
)AAABBBCCC
AAABBBCCCTrackShape ( 242
FileName ( A1g63mstrt.s )
NumPaths ( 1 )
SectionIdx ( 1 0 0 0 0 344 )
)AAABBBCCCTrack section 344 was one of the spare track 'section' numbers available.
Track shape 242 was one of the spare track 'shape' numbers available.
344 in SectionIdx refers to the Track Section number that was used. The rest is explained at the beginning of the tsection.dat file. Backup this file before you edit it. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: SOLVED - HOW TO IMPORT OBJECTS INTO TS AS TRACK SECTIONS" Hi,Im producing a canal system by sinking track down to 5m below ground and using the cutting function to produce a river by turning on water (which covers the track) my barge will be an 'engine' who's center is 5m above the track therefore lining it up with the water level.Could you not set the base height of your track sections to be the bottom of the supports and design your monorail engine and cars base height several meters above to match the level of the linear motor track.Terry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-27-01, 09:11 AM (EST) 3. "RE: SOLVED - HOW TO IMPORT OBJECTS INTO TS AS TRACK SECTIONS" That's just what I needed to hear. I'd just about squeezed myself dry of thinking juice. There's no reason why that shouldn't work to set the vehicle higher than the axis point.Thankyou for your help. Lookout for screenshots soon. Work has commenced on the maglev vehicle now. Nov-27-01, 09:43 AM (EST) 4. "RE: SOLVED - HOW TO IMPORT OBJECTS INTO TS AS TRACK SECTIONS" Glad to be of service, look for my "trains and boats and planes" thread in this forum and loco design. I noticed that the train could hover above the track when I implemented a flying UFO using the one that was in MSTS. Its center was about 50 ft up from the track but it still travelled my skytrack OK.Guess what I was going to do after I finished my barge? One of my favorite engineers was Eric Laithwaite the inventor of the linear motor. You beat me to it! Still I only got TrainSim Modeller yesterday. Look forward to your piccies.Terry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-27-01, 08:14 PM (EST) 5. "RE: SOLVED - HOW TO IMPORT OBJECTS INTO TS AS TRACK SECTIONS" I think the neatest project yet to be attempted, will be the Panama Canal, I would love to see that with the locks and the ships and the trains, very ambitious project beyond only my imagining it as a concept. "RE: SOLVED - HOW TO IMPORT OBJECTS INTO TS AS TRACK SECTIONS" The would be spectacular, we can do all those things except for one, the lock gates, my barges dont fall and rise and neither can the water.yet!you got me thinking though.Terry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-28-01, 09:18 AM (EST) 7. "RE: SOLVED - HOW TO IMPORT OBJECTS INTO TS AS TRACK SECTIONS" Hey that looks cool. Can you please tell me what I have to do with the .eng file to get the vehicle into the game. So far (somehow) it's ended up in the passenger car section and doesn't load anyway. If you can help there'll be screenshots very soon indeed. Thanks Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I showed what was necessary to do to the ENG file (I hope) for an aircraft, your monorail should be something similiarTerry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
