Nov-25-01, 05:48 AM (EST) "Importing objects for route design, I need help!" I have create a new route with the Geometry Extractor and I'm working with the Route Editor.
Then I work with the Object Placement and going to choose objects there is no buildings and bridges and other objects.
I check by the Route Editor the other Railway lines and they have most of the objects. Water, river and texture is missing to.
How can I solve this problem.
It's not fun to build a railway without stations and platfoms, lakes and river.
I can work with rails etc.

Nov-25-01, 09:17 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Importing objects for route design, I need help!" Goto the file library (and if it's working... lately it's been funky) and download the most recent version of ezstuffit.bat and combined.ref (or whatever they're called in this version). It's a single download with both files on it and has a lengthy help file on how to run them and get every object to use in your route...BTW, since people don't seem to like the Search function (bog?) we might need a banner that gets pasted ontop the message board. somthing that says "Before you ask, search" Maybe Lawrence can make one for Nels since he loves telling people to search -Andy

"RE: Importing objects for route design, I need help!" http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/2491.htmlIt wasn't just him, Andy, there's a bunch of new guys asking every week. Part of the problem with the search is the time it takes, even on a DSL, and unless you chance to hit on the right keyword, I frequently get a lot of fluff and it only returns a finite number of hits, so the one that actually answers the question don't even show up. Limiting the search to subject or author doesn't work for me either, for some reason. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-25-01, 10:01 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Importing objects for route design, I need help!" Jim, I've come to the conclusion nothing works around here anymore. The search takes forever, no new downloads... nothing. I put two or three (can't remember anymore...) up there and haven't seen them since. How long does it take to fix a server?Rich Garber Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-25-01, 10:36 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Importing objects for route design, I need help!" Wrong question, Rich. Should be "How many techs does it take to fix a server?" The answer, obviously, would be "More than we have available." Variation on the lightbulb thing. It worked better last night than it has in a while, I was finally able to download PO&N4 to test the integrity, altho I got about 26kbs instead of the usual 80 to 100 I get with the DSL. Other odd thing I noticed was both PO&N4 and EMRR 11 have over 2000 downloads, how is that possible if it wasn't working? Anyway, it don't affect combstuff, since it's under 100k the direct link in the other thread gets it from this server instead of the other one. Watch for the file library server saga on "Unsolved Mysteries" next week, I think they relocated it to the Bermuda Triangle. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-25-01, 05:50 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Importing objects for route design, I need help!" Heh, you think this server is slow you shoulda seen me trying to DL the different CLW EMDs that came out this morning. There musta been 1000 people trying to do the exact same thing at the same time. I did DL a few things today and was getting about 4KB/sec which is about .10-.05 of my normal DL speed from here. Hope it gets fixed up soon since that Wisconsin Cheesehead route is looking pretty nice and I just don't have the patience for it until we get more speed. Fortuneately stuffit is a wee bat file. Sometimes finding things in that big utility category is time consuming too, since one keeps getting legions of "My eng file is better than your eng file" entries -Andy
