Nov-23-01, 05:14 PM (EST) "WP Feather River Route - Progress report " I thought I'd share some views from the Feather River Canyon with you all...
Got tracks from Oroville to Spring Garden (90 miles), only 25 miles to go...then it's time for some scienic stuff.
I have a question as well: How do I change the type of tunnel sections? I have the "pointed" kind and I don't like it! I want a tunnel with rounded roof. I read about it a long time ago but I can't find it again.Oh well...on to the screenshots:Message Areas - "WP Feather River Route - Progress report " – image 1

Williams Loop, 50 86-footers (4300') was close...need a few more to make it cross itself! (Sorry, but I haven't made the "bridge" yet)Message Areas - "WP Feather River Route - Progress report " – image 9
I also want to say "Thank you!" to Mark Toland for making this excellent inspection vehicle. It just had to get a new paint-job.Enjoy....Message Areas - "WP Feather River Route - Progress report " – image 10 Nalle Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-23-01, 09:33 PM (EST) 4. "RE: WP Feather River Route - Progress report " They only have two types of tunnel sections, too tall and too short. I like the look of the round ones from the in cab view, but the train looks odd from the external view due to having the tops of the cars chopped off. And with the addition of the new caboose with the cupola view, the round tunnels make for some even stranger effects. I'm currently replacing all my round tunnel sections with pointy ones, the only way to do it is to select the section, right click to see what it is (and note the grade elevation, if any), then delete it and replace with the same type of the other tunnel section. If you already have them buried underground, hit the "Y" key to unbury one section, replace it, hit the ~ (tilde) key to undo the last terrain move (covers it up again) and move on to the next. You can select track sections thru the terrain if you hit the "W" for wireframe mode.Message Areas - "WP Feather River Route - Progress report " – image 11For the tall tunnels, using JP1tunnel1 merged with UKsingletunnel covers the gaps without having to use transfers. Nov-24-01, 06:57 AM (EST) 6. "RE: WP Feather River Route - Progress report " I know about making tunnels...I've made 29 so far (tunnel #4 through #34, #12 has been daylighted).
I got the idea that there were another type of tunnelsections, but I've looked in all routes and they're all the same type. As you said, they're too tall...I'll have to make some changes to my tunnel portals, cuz' sometimes the pointed roof shows over the tunnel...
Oh well...I'll work it out one of these days.Message Areas - "WP Feather River Route - Progress report " – image 12 Message Areas - "WP Feather River Route - Progress report " – image 13 Nalle Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-25-01, 05:21 PM (EST) 9. "RE: WP Feather River Route - Progress report " Yes, I do have more. I don't think it would be too great to post them here, though, as there are a bunch and quality suffers when I compress them enough to be under the file size limit. If I wasn't so lazy I'd have my Web site up and running, but I am just that lazy. I suppose I'll post them when I do get the site going. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I can then get the pictures uploaded, and I'll post links here.Message Areas - "WP Feather River Route - Progress report " – image 17 Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
