Nov-23-01, 12:43 PM (EST) "Sidings causing crashes?" I placed some sidings and lots of buildings, and the route editor gives 'remove_end_end' etc. error and crashes.
db rebuild went through fine 2 days ago, and I haven't do any changes to the track after that. Of course it doesn't work anymore after 2 days work, so everything must be redone again. Is it necessary to rebuild the database after placing sidings and platforms? And how does changing the roads affect to track database? My route would be finished without these crashes, this was not the first time. Luckily I have almost 40 backups of the route...(one or two for every day)Enocell Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-23-01, 02:43 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Sidings causing crashes?" LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-01 AT 02:47 PM (EST)AArgh. Just guessing here, "Remove end_end" could be two switches base-to-base, altho that usually returns "invalid track junction" when you place it that way. Could also be a siding marker overlapping a switch point or crossing over from one track to another. Siding and platform data is in the \Tiles\*f.raw files, you might take a look at those and see if there's a .bk for the corrupted one, try hacking them in wordpad, or if all else fails delete all the f.raw files, and let the editor go thru all the "missing siding marker, delete?" stuff, and place them again. Changing roads don't affect the track database, it's the road database, the one with the .rdb extension instead of .tdb. I always delete both the .rdb and .tdb files, and the advanced, rebuild function rebuilds both the tdb and rdb from the info in the y.raw files. If those are screwed up too, and there's no associated .bk for the bad ones, you're toast. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-23-01, 03:12 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Sidings causing crashes?" LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-01 AT 03:18 PM (EST)I'm 100% sure that there's no faulty switches as I didn't lay any track. Maybe there's something wrong with the sidings, but I have 3 backups from today and 3 from yesterday so maybe I don't have to remake everything from past 2 days. I placed a lot of scenery and I don't want to make all that again. Is your route still working if you remove the .tdb files?
I tried that but it *really* removed the database, and the game thought there was no tracks at all(or roads) so it was not driveable.Enocell Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-23-01, 04:15 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Sidings causing crashes?" Yeah, the trick is to delete the .tdb and the .rdb PLUS the ~tdb.bk and ~rdb.bk, then select the route, click advanced, check the box for the rebuild before opening. You should get a high speed movie of it flying all over the route, and a message "all world tiles visited", then you know it actually did it, if you don't delete the db files and the associated backups the blasted thing sometimes tries to cheat and take a shortcut, which don't do any good when it's copying one corrupted file onto another. I don't think your problem is there, tho, if you had this after placing siding markers those f.raw files would be the first place to look. Unless you placed so many objects you got the tile file size too big again, static objects don't usually cause problems like that. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-23-01, 04:30 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Sidings causing crashes?" Nope. Took a shot at duplicating the problem, but even with redlined siding markers going across switch points or crossing over tracks I don't get an error message. Message Areas - "Sidings causing crashes?" – image 1 You using a new custom building? Even that would probably give a different error message tho, that end_end thing has me stumped at the moment.
