Nov-21-01, 02:34 PM (EST) "Pay no attention. I just want to cry." Ok, I've started on my route for the 5th time. I've learned some things about MicroDem and the other programs. I still can't get the terrain to match up. I merged about 6 DEM's together, XYZ'd them and DemEx'd them. Got 6 more and DemEx'd them too. All are 30x30 dems. LOL... there's about a 500 foot cliff between the 2 sections.Like I said, don't mind me. I'm just trying to let off some steam here. I'm sure in a day or 2, I'll make another attempt. I like the punishment.. ha ha.Art Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-21-01, 03:02 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Pay no attention. I just want to cry." the way you say that, sounds like the problem I was having. Sort of. I was getting these massive drop-offs. Are you seeing the tile grid lines and then there's like no terrain what looks to be like an infinity below it? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-21-01, 04:05 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Pay no attention. I just want to cry." Been dealing with the stupid editor for a while now, but I found a way that actually works, without any "Cliffs" or anything of that Nature.I created a few "Dummy Routes" for the dem im using, I've also been Downloading Full County's and merging them that way, so when it comes to Extracting I extract it into the dummy route, check the terrain as well as the height, if all's good I. Copy the "Tiles" Folder into a separate folder and start with the next county I need.when im Fully done with demming i just go and take all the separate Tiles folders and copy them into 1 which would be the Actual Tile folder for the route im working onever since I've been doing it this way i have had no Problems what so ever with either the dem or the Editor
I've completed my dem, i checked end from end and it's all there in Excellent shape )
Well i hope this idea may help
but the reason i replied is because i was having basically the same problemBob

Nov-22-01, 01:34 AM (EST) 6. "RE: Pay no attention. I just want to cry." Hey Crow357,
I ran into the same stuff on my Cajon route. I downloded the freebie DEM data and had all kinds of problems like BIG cliffs and the like. In my case the DEM data for elevation in the Barstow DEM was in meters while the one for Hodge was in feet. So I exported each dem to xyz and determine what units the z's were in. I merged em only if they were of the same unit. Best regards
