Nov-18-01, 11:05 AM (EST) "Help me about adding New World Sections Tiles !" Help me about adding New World Sections Tiles !Can anyone can tell me how to add World Sections Tiles froma New Part of route to an existing route ? I've been able to add New Terrain Tiles in an existing route by opening the Route Geometry Extractor original of MSTS ,selecting the existing route in a window and creating a newroute in an other window (the both in the same Route Geometry Extractor Launch ) .I've zoom the first Quad-tree to have thedesired degree map of the existing route , and repeated the step for the other Quad-tree of the new created route to be in the same region . In first time , I've added All the New Tiles that I want to create in the new created route Quad-tree by comparing the two Quad-trees , I've saved the New one after Minimize it , and , it's Important , Generated Flagged Tiles . ( I've used the DEM-Extractor to Generate terrain elevations after too ). In second time , I've added the same Exactly All Tiles of the existing route Quad-tree to the new created route one ( where the New created Tiles are now ) , ever by comparing the two Quad-trees, and saved Quad-tree again ( Don't Forget ! ). When it was done , I've Leaved the Route Geometry Extractor Fully , delete " <-...+...> .td " and " td_idx " Files in the " Td " Folder of the existing route , and replaced them by the same files created before in the " Td " Folder of the new created route . I must add the New Tiles Files too fromthe New created route Tiles Folder to the existing route one ,and when I've opened the existing route in the MSTS Route Editor , there were the old route more the New TerrainTiles that I can transform like I want . It's not verydifficult , but it got to be think ! But my Problem is that I don't know how to do the same whit Terrain Tiles who have World Constructions , because the " .ws " Files in the " World " route Folders are not directly joined to the Tiles Files . ( You can see that there's not the same number of Files in the two " Tiles " and " World " Folders ! ) . So , if someone knows how to do that whitout modify the Worldof the original route , he will be pleased to answer me .
Tanks . I'm French and Sorry for my bad english speaking ! Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-18-01, 02:53 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Help me about adding New World Sections Tiles !" Well, since I don't parley vous at all, I guess we're stuck with English. If I understand correctly, you are trying to make a new route from an existing route, using the existing route tiles surrounded by new blank tiles for expansion? If that's the case, I think you are going about it backwards, when I do that I copy the \TD, \TILES, and \WORLD folders from the original route, and paste them into the new route. This will overwrite all the files with the same name, so the existing route files that already have track and scenery will replace the blank ones, but will not effect the new blank tiles outside the boundary of the original route. The height offset can be a problem, the new tiles have to be adjusted close to the same height as the old, and some terrain smoothing is needed to get rid of the clipping at the edges. "RE: Help me about adding New World Sections Tiles !" well , sniper297 , thank you for your interest of my question ,but you haven't really understand what I wanted to ask .I want to add a new expansion line to an existing line , there is a big difference because you've got the worldobjects already put on ! It's like if you want to add an existing line on another one !
And , please , I'm a poor Frenchy English speaking , soI don't understand very well what you means by :" The height offset can be a problem, the new tiles have to be adjusted close to the same height as the old, and some terrain smoothing is needed to get rid of the clipping at theedges " . Can you explain it to me easyer , Please ? Thanks !

Nov-20-01, 09:13 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Help me about adding New World Sections Tiles !" I have done this many times, let me make it easy:1. Copy your Route into another location on your hard-drive, I usually just put it on the Desktop.2. Go into Route Geometry Extractor and generate all of the new tiles you need. For this example, let's add 2: 1000784 and 100078a. 3. Run DemExtractor on the WHOLE route, it will destroy all of the objects in the route, that's OK, because we have them backed up.4. Go back to the Desktop and COPY your original route back into the Route folder. It will ask if you want to overwrite files, tell it 'Yes' It will replace all of your new tiles, and replace them with the originals. The only ones not overwritten will be the new ones, which will then be 'added' to the route.5. If it doesn't work: Don't Panic, because you carefully backed up your original route onto the Desktop, and can easily just put it back if anything goes wrong.Hope this Helps:Rob Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Hello , rdamurphy , thank you for trying easily explain it to me ,so , ... If I understand what you meen ,you said that after I've created the new Quad-tree ,including the carefully backed up original route tilesmore expansion route tiles I need to add , and generate all of them , I would have to COPY the original route morethe new expansion route ,( the two carefully backed up before ), back into the Route folder, and replace all the original and expanded tiles routes ( and so , all files , including shapes and world files ).
And so Easily , when I'll run the Train Editor ,I could run the full route including the original route more expansion route together ? Because that's what Iwant do do , instead that I'm not arrived to say it also clear before ! Like I read others messages anywhere , I don't know if perhaps I'd got to modify the .ref fileor another one if the shape files are not the same in the two routes !
Thanks to answer me to be shure !
