Nov-15-01, 03:36 PM (EST) "Quad tree doesn't match tiles" I noticed last night that the quad tree for my route has no relationship to the tiles extracted to make up my route. Everything seems happy except they don't match. Can I just re-select the correct tiles in the quad-tree, save but not extract, and everything be back together? Where is the quad-tree information stored? I can't find a file that looks relevant.I would appreciate help as I want to add some extra tiles but can't do that until this is sorted out. On the status bar at the bottom of the window, you will see a lot of information. The last bit (I think) of information is the file name. It will be weird, like "-1b43ec04" Something like that. Just plain weird. Now, open Windows Explorer, and go to the tile directory of your route. There should be 4 (maybe 3) files there which will include those several characters as the first part of the file name. Do they exist? If so then the route and the Quad Tree are in sync. Of course, you would have to do that for every tile (or blue X).>my route. Everything seems happy

>the quad-tree information stored? I That question, I do not know. Lawrence Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-15-01, 04:01 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Quad tree doesn't match tiles" The X'd tiles when I open the quad tree are a line of 3x20 tiles. This is nothing like the tiles that I extracted for my route and which sit in the tile directory. I can only think that I made a goof and changed the tiles selected in the RGE one day and this got saved, but for some reason the route editor is not referring to it apart from the location of the start tile. It's really weird. The other routes (eg. all the Microsoft ones and the Port Odgen v. 4) are all OK, but just mine doesn't match. Hence if I re-select the matching tiles from the tile directory, will everything be OK?Does this make more sense, Lawrence? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Yes, makes more sense.Let me see if I understand this. The quad tree shows something like this:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx(or it could be vertical)and when you look at the route in the Route Editor, you notice that sure enough you do not have the above, but it goes something like this--just as an example--(in order for me to make this work, let's assume that the little dots (the period key) represents no tile at that location):xxxxx.........xxxx.....
xxxxx.........xxxx.....
...xxxxx...xxxx........
...xxxxx...xxxx........
......xxxxx............
......xxxxx............Is this correct? If that is the case, then I would suggest you delete the entire route and restart it from scratch.Lawrence Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-15-01, 06:44 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Quad tree doesn't match tiles" That's essentially it Lawrence. I have backups so I will try and overwrite the quad tree X's back to the correct tiles and see what happens. Otherwise I will have to start from scratch
I'll let you know what the outcome of all this is. It might end up generating some useful information for others.David Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
