Nov-14-01, 02:47 AM (EST) "fictional routes" I'm wondering if anybody is considering the construction of routes that are fictional but interchange with real railroads at real locations. I had contemplated modeling portions of the Pensylvania railroad, but gathering up track charts was going to be an expensive proposition. So now I'm contemplating creating my own fictional subsidiary of the Pensy using leased Pensy power interchanging with the Pensy in a few places using real track charts and locations for the Pensy trackage. By the way since I have primarily been a western modeler most of my life (hence the screen name of WP fan) I am not to familiar with Eastern roads. Has anyone ever heard of a real railroad by the name of Pensylvania and Ohio. If not I think I've found a name for my fictional line, if so back to the drawing board. Is anyone else doing a fictional route like this, not exactly like this but of this genre? Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-14-01, 12:41 PM (EST) 2. "RE: fictional routes" Yeah..Track plans, especially for Australia are rather hard to come by.. As for fictional routes, well its all i do but would love to find some yards that i could remodel, I have a few large American ones..But i want the feel of home for once Ive purchased a copy of this new trainz and it should hopefully be on my doorstep in a few weeks... Being an Aussie company, Im hoping that any route supplied with the game will have some place from Oz on it I know theres a beta tester allready working on a large route from Sydney out to the blue mountains so hopefully it will be available not long after the game is out.. whoops ive gone of track here
Um yeah...as for fictional mixed with real life... Love the idea.My apologises if this post is confusing..its sure lost meCatchya's

Nov-14-01, 05:48 PM (EST) 3. "RE: fictional routes" I am working on a fictional route (Hamilton-Norfolk RR) that is a bridge route from Cincinnati to the east coast. It loosely follows the old CSX mainline from Parkersburg to Grafton, and then will be totally new from Grafton through to the Shenandoah valley. I have taken this approach for similar reasons: 1)I don't have access to all the plans and prototype material I need to replicate the CSX, 2) there was no RR that went through all the way through this region, and 3) I am an Aussie that has never been to West Virginia, I just like the look of railroads in that area.So I hope to get help from beta testers later on when I have more track down (so far Long Run to near Harrisburg is done).David Phillips (Calembeena) Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
